Description
Peter Mork, also rendered in some sources as Peter Mauk, is a supporting character in the anime Overlord: The Dark Hero. He is a silver-ranked adventurer registered at the adventurer guild of E-Rantel in the Re-Estize Kingdom and the leader of a small adventurer party called the Swords of Darkness. The party name was chosen after four legendary magic swords once carried by the Black Knight, a member of the legendary Thirteen Heroes, and Peter's personal dream as an adventurer was to one day obtain that sword. He is a young man with blonde hair and blue eyes, features that are ordinary and common among the people of the kingdom, and he has a smooth-faced, well-formed appearance. Because of limited financial means, he wears a suit of chainmail over a leather shirt and fights with a broadsword and a large shield.

In terms of personality, Peter is a cheerful, friendly, and earnest young man who is generally regarded as a good person. He is responsible and level-headed, often trying to steer conversations back on track when his companions drift off topic, which makes him the steadying presence of his group. As a leader, he is capable of accurate judgment in difficult situations and carries out his role as a frontline warrior, using his shield to protect the party members who fight from the rear. His relationship with his teammates is warm and closely bonded.

Peter's main motivation is tied to the legacy of the Thirteen Heroes' Black Knight. The party's entire existence is built around the goal of obtaining the Black Knight's legendary weapon, and Peter pushes himself and his companions toward that ambition. This dream also shapes how he interacts with the wider adventurer world, as he regards strength and heroism with genuine reverence.

In the story of the anime, Peter and the Swords of Darkness cross paths with the powerful adventurer Momon and his companion Nabe when the much stronger pair are hired as temporary assistants for monster subjugation work. At first, Peter feels jealousy toward Momon because of the man's overwhelming strength and quickly rising fame, but that jealousy soon transforms into sincere admiration and respect as he witnesses Momon's abilities firsthand. His loyalty to his friends and his sense of duty as a leader remain his defining traits throughout the events that follow. The party's involvement with dangerous work in the region eventually leads them into the path of Clementine, a ruthless agent of the forces opposing the adventurers, and Peter is killed along with his comrades during this confrontation. Their deaths serve as a turning point in the larger conflict, as the tragedy eventually draws the protagonist into a direct confrontation with Clementine.

Peter's key relationships are mostly within his own party. Lukeluther Volve is the group's talkative ranger and resident jokester, whose loose behavior Peter often has to manage. Ninya is the brains of the team, a talented spellcaster who possesses an ability that lets her learn magic quickly, and Peter is aware of her personal circumstances even if the nature of that knowledge is not fully explored. Dyne Woodwonder is the party druid, knowledgeable about medicine and pharmacology, and carries remedies such as an effective treatment for stomachaches. Beyond his comrades, his most significant relationship is with Momon, whose strength initially unsettles Peter but eventually earns his deep respect.

The character's development is limited by his short presence in the story, but it is still meaningful. He begins as a capable but ordinary adventurer with an idealistic goal connected to a legend of the past, and his encounter with Momon forces him to confront the gulf between his own abilities and those of truly exceptional warriors. Rather than becoming resentful, he chooses to admire what he cannot match and remains committed to his duty as a shield for his friends, standing by his values even when the situation turns hopeless.

In terms of abilities, Peter is a fighter who specializes in defensive frontline combat. He is able to use a martial art known as Fortress, which reinforces his role as a wall protecting his allies. With the support of his party members, he is able to fight on even terms with a group of six wild goblins, a demonstration that his skill is respectable for a silver-ranked adventurer even if it is far below the level of the story's most powerful fighters. His equipment, consisting of chainmail, a broadsword, and a large shield, reflects both his combat style and the modest resources available to him.
