She is actually a young woman who disguises herself as a man, a choice that helps her navigate the dangerous world of adventuring and shields her identity. Her primary motivation is to locate and rescue her older sister, Tsuareninya, who was taken by a noble when Ninya was still a child living in a village. This experience fuels a deep and lasting hatred for the nobility, which she otherwise keeps controlled beneath a humble and good-natured exterior. Her personal dream is to obtain one of the legendary swords of darkness, but that goal is always secondary to finding her sister.

Ninya is described as having brown hair, blue eyes, and a pale, youthful face that is considered the most attractive of her party. She wears practical leather clothing and carries a staff, typical of a magic user. Her personality is generally earnest and kind; she keeps a regular diary and shows a romantic side through her aspirations. Within the Swords of Darkness, she is a reliable and level-headed member who contributes both tactical thinking and magical firepower.

Her role in the story is that of a supporting character from the early arcs of Overlord. The Swords of Darkness cross paths with the protagonist, Ainz, while he is investigating the region. Ninya’s party is later ambushed and killed by the rogue adventurer Clementine. Ninya herself is slain before she can fulfill her goal of reuniting with her sister, which remains an unresolved tragedy. In the web novel version of the story, Ninya is depicted as male, but in the final anime and light novel canon she is female.

Ninya is a remarkably talented magic caster. She possesses a rare Talent that allows her to learn and cast spells in roughly half the time an ordinary caster would need. This natural gift, combined with diligent study, earned her the nickname the Spellcaster or the Prodigy Magic Caster among her peers.
