Hitomi Uzaki, known as the Brute Ratel, is a central character in her story. She is a unique being known as an Origin Beast, a Therianthrope who was born with the melding of human and animal genes rather than created through an operation. Before being given a name, she lived as a feral child prowling the streets of Hong Kong, where locals referred to her with a word meaning "animal" or used as an insult. Her life changed when Dr. Reiichi Shidou found her, repeatedly bringing food and enduring her bites and scratches to form a bond, eventually giving her the name Hitomi.

In appearance, Hitomi is a young girl with white hair and brown eyes. When she transforms, her body takes on the features of a honey badger, with black fur and white markings covering sections of her limbs and body, accompanied by small ears on her head, a short tail, and sharp claws and fangs.

Hitomi's personality is defined by a fierce and aggressive disposition. A defining trait is that she claims to have never experienced fear since birth, a characteristic that makes her relentlessly defiant in battle. She will pick a fight with very little provocation and is known for her arrogant confidence, often mocking opponents regardless of their strength. Despite her tomboyish and crass nature, she is conscious about acting more feminine and can be surprisingly naive about inappropriate behavior, not recognizing when she is being ogled. Her demeanor changes drastically around Dr. Shidou, becoming sweet, cute, and completely obedient. When eating sweets, which she has loved since childhood, she displays a normal, cute girl expression.

Her primary motivation is tied to her loyalty to Reiichi Shidou, whom she respects deeply and feels indebted to for saving her life from a gang during her youth. She is an integral part of his mysterious agenda, and her actions are often dictated by his orders. A significant part of her character arc involves her role in the Killing Bites tournament, where she fights as the combatant for the Mitsukado Zaibatsu under the management of Yuuya Nomoto, a college student who becomes her investor and bodyguard. Her philosophy in battle is encapsulated in her catchphrase: "The one whose fangs are the sharpest wins. Thus, Killing Bites".

Throughout the story, Hitomi has key relationships that shape her development. Her bond with Reiichi Shidou is the most significant, built on a history of him caring for her when she was feral. She shares a complex partnership with Yuuya Nomoto, initially viewing him as a tool but developing a more personal connection; at one point, she is ordered by Shidou to kill him, a task she carries out while visibly in tears. She also forms a temporary rivalry and alliance with Brute Cheetah, Eruza Nakanishi, who forces her to wear a maid costume. Her evolution sees her beginning to forge her own path, culminating in a final battle where she defeats the champion Brute Leo, establishing her as a ferocious and resilient warrior.

As a combatant, Hitomi possesses incredible resilience and durability, able to survive brutal attacks from extremely powerful enemies. Her signature move is the "Honey Badger Slash," a counterattack where she rends opponents with her sharp claws, which are capable of eviscerating and severing limbs. She also demonstrates resistance to neurotoxins, such as those from a cobra, allowing her to recover faster than normal. Her physical abilities include superhuman strength, enough to toss a grown man, and formidable speed and reflexes that allow her to dodge sudden attacks. She is a tactical fighter who observes opponents, goads them into attacking, and capitalizes on openings. Her most notable ability, however, is her near-invincible fighting spirit and ability to take massive punishment without a drop in combat capability, a direct reflection of the real honey badger's tenacity.
