Sora Amamiya
Description
Sora Amamiya is a Japanese voice actress and singer born on August 28, 1993, in Tokyo, Japan. She is affiliated with the talent agency Music Ray'n. Her career began after she passed the second Music Ray'n Super Voice Actor Audition in 2011, making her voice acting debut in 2012. Her aspiration to become a voice actress was inspired by her admiration for fellow voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro.
Amamiya's first major leading role came in 2014 as Kaori Fujimiya in the television anime series One Week Friends. This same year marked a significant breakthrough in her career, as she went on to land prominent roles in multiple series, including Akame in Akame ga Kill!, Touka Kirishima in Tokyo Ghoul, Asseylum Vers Allusia in Aldnoah.Zero, and Elizabeth Liones in The Seven Deadly Sins.
Throughout her career, she has built an extensive filmography, portraying a wide variety of characters. Some of her notable roles include the goddess Aqua in the KonoSuba series, Isla in Plastic Memories, Miia in Monster Musume, Chizuru Mizuhara in Rent-A-Girlfriend, Yachiyo Nanami in Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story, Miko Yotsuya in Mieruko-chan, and Nazuna Nanakusa in Call of the Night. She also voiced Shiho Kitazawa in The Idolmaster Million Live! franchise.
In addition to her solo work, Amamiya is a member of the voice-acting unit TrySail, formed in late 2014 with her Music Ray'n contemporaries Momo Asakura and Shiina Natsukawa. The group has released multiple singles and albums.
Amamiya is also an accomplished solo singer, making her artist debut in August 2014 with the single Skyreach, which served as the opening theme for the anime Akame ga Kill!. She has since released several solo albums, including Various BLUE and The Only BLUE, and has performed theme songs for numerous anime series in which she has acted, such as PARADOX for Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It.
Her contributions to the voice acting industry have been recognized with awards. In 2015, she received the Best New Actress Award at the 9th Seiyu Awards. In 2022, she won the Best Female Voice Actor Award at the 8th Anime Trending Awards for her role as Miko Yotsuya in Mieruko-chan. In 2024, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her artist debut, October 10th was officially recognized as "Sora Amamiya (Ten-chan) Day" by the Japan Anniversary Association.
