Description
"Kemono Michi: Rise Up" centers on Genzo Shibata, a professional wrestler with an intense passion for animals. During a wrestling match, he is unexpectedly summoned to a fantasy world by a princess named Altena, who requests his help in defeating demonic beasts threatening her kingdom. However, Genzo’s love for animals overrides his sense of duty, and instead of fighting the creatures, he incapacitates the princess with a wrestling move and flees. Determined to live peacefully among the beasts he admires, Genzo decides to open a pet shop in this new world, despite the challenges posed by its inhabitants and his lack of resources.
The narrative follows Genzo as he navigates the complexities of the fantasy world, encountering various characters who either aid or hinder his goals. Among them is Carmilla Vanstein, a half-elf who becomes his reluctant companion and business partner. Shigure, a wolf-girl, and Hanako, a dragon, also join Genzo’s journey, each contributing their unique abilities and perspectives. The group faces numerous obstacles, including hostile adventurers, rival merchants, and the lingering threat of Altena, who seeks revenge for Genzo’s initial betrayal.
Throughout the series, Genzo’s wrestling skills and unorthodox methods often come into play, blending combat with comedic elements. His interactions with the fantasy world’s inhabitants highlight cultural clashes and misunderstandings, often resulting in humorous situations. Despite the lighthearted tone, the story occasionally delves into themes of coexistence and the ethical treatment of animals, reflecting Genzo’s unwavering commitment to his ideals. The series balances episodic adventures with an overarching narrative, culminating in Genzo’s efforts to establish his pet shop while navigating the challenges of his new environment.
