TV-Series
Description
Edgar operates as a merchant and moneylender in a fantasy setting. He appears as an older man with a bald head, an eyepatch over his left eye, and short side-beards framing his jaw without a mustache or chin beard.
Shigure, a wolf-girl, repeatedly seeks loans from him. Edgar agrees, stipulating repayment by a fixed deadline. The loan carries no high interest, but failure to repay mandates Shigure be sold into slavery. When she defaults, Edgar enforces the contract, justifying her sale as securing a comfortable life serving nobility.
During Shigure's transport, Genzō Shibata intervenes. Mistakenly believing Shigure is captive, he attacks Edgar with a German suplex, knocking him unconscious. Edgar's associates, the cat beastman Misha and wolf beastman Wolfgang, aid his escape.
This incident sparks Edgar's resentment toward Genzō. Collaborating with Misha and Wolfgang, he pursues revenge through multiple schemes. A notable plan involves repeatedly kidnapping Genzō's pet dog, Hiroyuki, motivated by vengeance and Hiroyuki's unique rarity as the only known member of its species in their world.
Edgar exhibits pragmatism and opportunism. While his moneylending practices and Shigure's contract might seem morally questionable, he operates within the agreement's terms without predatory interest. His active participation in revenge plots against Genzō, however, cements his antagonistic role towards the main character.
