Description
Kumiko Oumae has entered her third and final year as the president of the Kitauji High School concert band. With the prestigious national competition on the horizon, the club faces its most challenging season yet under the demanding instruction of conductor Noboru Taki. The stakes are higher than ever as the ensemble strives to leave behind the disappointments of past years and claim the gold prize that has remained elusive.
Set against the familiar backdrop of Kitauji High School in Uji City, the story follows Kumiko as she navigates the immense pressure of leadership. She is supported by her closest friends, including the fiercely dedicated trumpeter Reina Kousaka, as well as Hazuki Katou and Sapphire Kawashima. The band’s dynamic is complicated by the presence of Mayu Kuroe, a skilled transfer student whose quiet personality and exceptional talent create new tensions within the brass section. As the rigorous auditions for the competition soloists approach, old friendships are tested and the true meaning of making music together is put under a microscope.
This two-part theatrical finale serves as the definitive conclusion to the anime series, reimagining and expanding upon the events of the third television season with newly animated sequences and a rewritten screenplay. The narrative arcs focus heavily on Kumiko’s growth from a hesitant freshman into a decisive leader who must make impossible choices for the good of the band. Iconic events such as the Sunrise Festival are revisited with fresh animation, leading up to the emotional crescendo of the All-Japan Band Competition. Featuring the signature emotional storytelling and meticulous performance animation of Kyoto Animation, the film brings a decade-long journey of personal discovery and musical passion to a close. The first part is slated for release in Japan on April 24, 2026.
