Description
Natsuki Nitō is a second-year student at Saitama Prefectural Ageha High School and a classmate of Jun Naruse, Takumi Sakagami, and Daiki Tasaki. She lives near Agano Station and commutes by train to school in the Yokose area. Natsuki is widely regarded as an honors student with a strong sense of responsibility and excellent communication skills, which often make her a natural leader among her classmates. She serves as the captain of the school’s cheerleading club, where she actively leads and motivates her teammates. Her appearance is marked by long black hair that she typically keeps straight, though she ties it into a ponytail during physical activities, and a small mole near the corner of her mouth that gives her a distinctive look.
Natsuki’s personality is defined by her warmth, kindness, and social poise. She is considerate and supportive, able to read the atmosphere of a group and step in to mediate or organize when needed. Beneath her composed surface, however, she carries private emotional struggles, particularly regarding her past relationship with Takumi Sakagami. During middle school, the two were in a relationship, but it fizzled out without clear resolution, and they grew distant. Natsuki still harbors lingering feelings for Takumi, but she is hesitant to express them directly, fearing rejection or awkwardness within their friend group.
Her motivations are shaped by a desire to be helpful and to maintain harmony. When the homeroom teacher assigns Natsuki, Jun, Takumi, and Daiki to the community outreach event committee, she initially resists the imposition but gradually commits to the group’s project—a class musical. She uses her strong organizational skills to keep the production moving forward. At the same time, she struggles with jealousy when she misinterprets Takumi’s concern for Jun as romantic interest. In an attempt to protect her own feelings, she tells Takumi that she will support his relationship with Jun, and later claims to Daiki that she has a boyfriend (which is actually a reference to Takumi).
Natsuki plays a key role in the story as one of the four committee members who must work together despite their personal differences. Her relationship with Takumi is the most emotionally charged: she is unable to openly address their unresolved past until the night before the musical, when she confronts him and confesses that she has never stopped caring for him. This scene is overheard by Jun, which causes a crisis. When Jun runs away and fails to appear on the day of the performance, Natsuki steps in to play the lead role of the musical’s heroine, demonstrating her adaptability and willingness to sacrifice her own comfort for the sake of the group. At the musical’s conclusion, she and Takumi reconcile, and they begin to rebuild their relationship with a more honest understanding of each other.
Throughout the film, Natsuki develops from a guarded, conflict-avoidant person into someone who is able to voice her true emotions. She learns that maintaining harmony sometimes requires expressing difficult truths. Her abilities include cheerleading, public speaking, event coordination, and an intuitive sense of how to bring people together. While she is not a singer or performer by training, she is capable of rising to the occasion when the situation demands it.
Natsuki’s background is otherwise stable: she lives with her family and is active in school life. Her outward confidence and popularity contrast with the vulnerability she keeps hidden, and her arc centers on learning to communicate her own heart as clearly as she helps others communicate theirs.
