Chacha Akaza is a supporting character in the Maken-Ki! series. She is a sophomore student at Tenbi Academy and a member of the Student Council Security Division. Chacha is a foreign student who came to Japan from another country. She has light brown or tanned skin, gray hair tied into a side ponytail, and green eyes. Her height is approximately 170 centimeters. Chacha is known for her enthusiastic, carefree, and very laidback personality. She is almost always seen smiling and has a friendly, sociable nature that allows her to get along with almost anyone quickly. She speaks in a Kansai dialect and has a tendency to misuse words and proverbs, which does not bother her. Chacha demonstrates a notable lack of modesty, as she is one of the few girls in the series who is not bothered by being seen naked. She also enjoys wearing various costumes.

Her actions can sometimes be extreme or drastic. For example, she once exposed another character's chest as a joke, later stating she was unaware that the person was not wearing a bra underneath. She also put the protagonist, Takeru, through intense training methods that seemed to involve life-or-death situations. Chacha draws well and is a fan of Boys' Love (BL) stories, identifying as a fujoshi. Her best friend is Kimi Sato, with whom she shares a love of manga and a partnership in creating BL doujinshi. She is one of the few people who can truly understand Kimi's art. In her role within the Student Council Security Division, she is a powerful ability user. Her Maken, or magical sacred weapon, is named Compressor. This ability allows her to manipulate the density, size, and mass of inanimate objects she touches. For instance, she can change a small broken plank into an enormous board. Beyond her Maken ability, Chacha also possesses immense physical strength, having been shown to effortlessly defeat an opponent three times her size in an arm wrestling match.
