Description
Fumina Hoshino is a central character from the Gundam Build Fighters Try series and its special episode, Island Wars. She is a student at Seiho Academy, where she serves as the passionate and dedicated president of the school's Gunpla Battle Club. In Island Wars, she has advanced to her first year of senior high school.

Fumina is characterized by her caring nature and a strong, unwavering drive to achieve her goals. However, her initial weakness in Gunpla Battle is her tendency to prioritize supporting her teammates over developing her own individual fighting strength, which can make her overly reliant on others. Despite this, she possesses sharp tactical acumen and often directs her team's strategy on the battlefield. Her personality is also marked by a more personal, youthful side; she develops a clear romantic interest in her teammate, Sekai Kamiki, and is known to become jealous when he interacts closely with other girls.

Motivation is central to Fumina's role. At the start of the series, her primary goal is to revive the struggling Gunpla Battle Club and compete in the national tournament, which now requires teams of three. This leads her to recruit Sekai and her childhood friend, Yuuma Kousaka, forming the team Try Fighters, which she leads as captain. Her motivations evolve from simply wanting to compete to a deep commitment to making her team function cohesively and winning the championship together.

Fumina's key relationships are the foundation of her story. Her dynamic with Yuuma Kousaka is rooted in a long history; they were close childhood friends who built Gunpla together and made a promise to one day fight in the World Championship. This promise becomes a driving force for both of them. Her relationship with the protagonist, Sekai Kamiki, is equally significant. She is immediately interested in his unique martial arts-infused fighting style and recruits him to the club. As the series progresses, she grows to admire him, and her hidden feelings for him become more apparent. In Island Wars, the Try Fighters team is invited, along with several rivals, to test a new battle system on a remote island, further developing their team dynamics.

Over the course of the story, Fumina undergoes tangible development. Initially, her battle style suffers from a lack of confidence in her solo capabilities. After a one-on-one battle against a superior fighter, Lady Kawaguchi, where she is unable to use her weapons effectively, Fumina realizes she must become bolder and more self-reliant. This revelation leads her to upgrade her Gunpla to have stronger individual combat power, marking her transition from a primarily supportive role to a more balanced and capable fighter.

Fumina showcases several notable abilities. Her primary skill is as a thoughtful tactician and strategist, often directing the flow of battle for Try Fighters. Her Gunpla-building philosophy reflects her desire for teamwork; she creates her signature Gunpla, the Winning Gundam, specifically designed to dock with and support her teammates' machines. After her development, she upgrades this unit into the Star Winning Gundam, which retains its combining capabilities but boasts significantly improved individual fighting strength and weaponry.
