Description
Louis Kisaragi is a central figure in the King of Prism series, first appearing in the film King of Prism: PRIDE the Hero. His character is deeply tied to the lore of the Prism World. Originally, he was created as an F-type model of a Prism Messenger about a thousand years ago, known in a past life as Rinne. In that previous existence, Rinne was tasked with spreading Prism Sparkle alongside a counterpart named Shine, whom Rinne loved. However, Rinne was forced to kill Shine, an event that shaped his later identity. Reborn as Louis Kisaragi, he carries the memories of that past life and is once again sent by the Prism Gods to eliminate Shine, who now resides within the body of the Prism Star Shin Ichijo. Unlike his previous incarnation, Louis refuses to carry out this mission.
In terms of appearance, Louis has platinum blonde hair and golden eyes, often described by others as beautiful or angelic. His demeanor is calm and kind, though he maintains an air of mystery. He does not hesitate to show affection toward Shin and frequently expresses jealousy when Shin spends time with friends. As Rinne, he was more serious and singularly focused on his duty as a messenger, but as Louis he is more emotionally open.
Louis's role in the story is multifaceted. He initially appears as an enigmatic figure who introduces Shin to Prism Shows. He is associated with the rival academy Schwarz Rose, and the song Prism Show titled Pride is registered under his name, creating a conflict with the Edel Rose team. Throughout the Prism King Cup competition, Louis demonstrates exceptional skill, becoming the first to successfully perform four consecutive Prism Jumps in the tournament, earning 20,000 karats and placing first in the initial rankings. However, his motivations become more personal as the story progresses. During a private Prism Show with Shin, he performs the jump Whispering Lunamystic Heaven, which ends with him confessing his feelings and kissing Shin before stabbing him. This act is tied to his original mission, but his internal conflict is evident.
Later, when Shin is unable to perform Prism Jumps, Louis tears off his own earring and gives it to Shin, restoring his ability. During his own performance in the finals, instead of using Pride, he performs Lunatic Destiny and the Prism Jump Infinite Hug Eternal, which returns the memories of a character named June Amou. This jump also reveals that Louis is a Rinne-type Prism Messenger. At the film's conclusion, Louis destroys his own prism wings, preventing himself from returning to the Prism World and choosing to remain on Earth with Shin. He also allows Hiro Hayami to take the win in the competition, stepping aside for the Edel Rose victory.
In the subsequent series King of Prism: Shiny Seven Stars, Louis's character development deepens. He comes to realize that his true feelings are for Shin himself, rather than for Shine the prism messenger. This realization marks a shift from his original divine mission to a personal emotional connection. He ultimately vows to stay with Jin Norizuki despite his feelings for Shin, indicating a commitment to the path he has chosen.
Notable among his abilities is his mastery of Prism Shows and Prism Jumps, which often involve elegant and emotionally charged movements. His routine Lunatic Destiny utilized motion capture from a pole dancer, a first for the CGI team, and its choreography required extensive planning. His Prism Jumps have the power to affect the memories and abilities of others, such as restoring Shin's ability to jump or returning June's lost memories. Through his journey, Louis moves from a mysterious, duty-bound messenger to a person who embraces his own emotions and choices, even if that means defying his original purpose.
