Description
Kakeru Jūōin, originally named Kazuo Jūōin, is the heir to the wealthy Jūōin Holdings conglomerate and serves as the managing director of his father's company. He is a student at the Kakyoin Academy of Edel Rose, where he trains as a Prism Star. His decision to adopt the name Kakeru reflects a desire to establish an identity separate from his heavy corporate obligations.

Kakeru’s personality is officially described with the Japanese term charai, which suggests a flirtatious, frivolous, or somewhat showy demeanor. He often projects this playful and attention-seeking exterior. However, this behavior is a mask for a much more complex interior life. Having been brought into the harsh world of his family's business at a very early age, he witnessed significant corruption and betrayal, which made it difficult for him to trust others and led him to doubt whether genuine love truly exists. This profound skepticism is what motivated him to enroll at Edel Rose, with the stated goal of confirming if love is real.

Despite his public charai persona, Kakeru possesses a serious and diligent side that he often goes to great lengths to hide, becoming embarrassed whenever it is brought to light. According to his classmate Hiro, Kakeru is a hardworking student who genuinely loves Prism Shows and assists his father with business work. He is also a self-identified otaku with an enthusiasm for all genres of anime, and he has been known to go shopping for action figures with Hiro. This hidden side even extends to hiding his Prism Star magazines from other students like Shin to maintain his crafted image. The struggle to balance his image with his authentic passions is a key part of his character.

In the story of King of Prism: PRIDE the HERO, Kakeru plays a crucial role that leverages his unique position between the entertainment and corporate worlds. He uses his family's extensive resources to aid Edel Rose, including supplying technology for Prism battles and developing a Prism System that can help with automated scoring. His corporate expertise allows him to track financial pressures on the academy and understand the moves of rival entities. A pivotal moment in the film involves Kakeru facing opposition from his traditional father, who wishes for him to leave Edel Rose and focus on the family's core industries. Nevertheless, Kakeru remains committed, eventually playing a decisive role in the Prism King Cup by using his influence to counter the schemes of Schwarz Rose, such as securing the rights to a crucial performance for his teammate Hiro.

Kakeru’s relationships reveal different facets of his personality. His friendship with Hiro Hayami is particularly significant, as Hiro is one of the few who recognizes and acknowledges Kakeru’s more serious and dedicated nature. This dynamic allows for a more genuine connection, as seen when they share hobbies like collecting figures. His family, especially his father, represents the expectations and burdens of his role as heir, creating an internal conflict between his duty to the conglomerate and his passion for Prism Shows.

Throughout the narrative, Kakeru undergoes significant development, primarily revolving around integrating his two identities. At one point, he is exiled to a family branch in Madagascar as punishment for his unauthorized collaborations, an experience that forces him to confront his internal conflicts. His time away solidifies his resolve to apply the lessons he has learned from performing, particularly the ability to inspire genuine emotion, toward becoming a more ethical and effective future leader of his company. His journey culminates not in abandoning one role for the other, but in embracing his responsibilities as Kazuo while continuing to perform as Kakeru, demonstrating a commitment to both his artistic passion and his leadership destiny. As a Prism Star, his abilities are showcased in performances like Orange Flamingo, where he utilizes his signature Cyalume Change for costume transformations and performs Prism Jumps such as Kakerunomics Fund and One Night Heaven.
