TV-Series
Description
Nidaime is the estranged son of the great tengu Professor Akadama, introduced in the second season of the series. After losing a fierce dispute with his father a century earlier, he disappeared and later returned to Kyoto as an English gentleman, an event that unsettles both the tengu and tanuki worlds. He is a powerful tengu in his own right, capable of besting Benten in combat, as demonstrated when he sets her hair on fire during their fight. Nidaime harbors a deep grudge not only against his father but also against Benten, Akadama’s former pupil, and his return forces existing tensions to the surface. He has a strong aversion to being indebted to anyone and insists on paying with money for any service rendered. This creates friction with the tanuki Yasaburo Shimogamo, who repeatedly eludes monetary repayment, leaving Nidaime feeling obligated. His motivations are driven by pride and a desire to settle old scores, and his presence serves as a catalyst for conflict and change within the delicate balance of humans, tengu, and tanuki in Kyoto.
