Description
Kei Tachikawa captains Tachikawa Squad as Border's No. 1 Attacker and top-ranked agent. A first-generation recruit during Border's founding, he trained directly under founder Masafumi Shinoda, mastering dual-wielding Kogetsu swordsmanship. He sports medium-length wavy brown hair (gray in the anime) and brown eyes with a crosshatched design. His trion body dons a black trench coat with red pinstripes, black pants, and boots.

In combat, Tachikawa displays arrogance, risk-taking, and occasional underestimation of foes, sometimes leading to carelessness against unexpected challenges. Yet he maintains sharp analytical thinking during battles. Off-duty, he adopts a friendly, humorous demeanor, joking similarly to rival Yūichi Jin—a trait fueling Miwa's dislike. He prioritizes strategy and power over emotional drive but acknowledges passion's role in close fights, arguing that crediting victory solely to emotion disrespects the defeated.

Tachikawa specializes in dual Kogetsu swords augmented by Senkū for extended mid-air strikes, culminating in his Double Senkū Kogetsu technique. Grasshopper aids mobility; Bagworm grants radar invisibility. His combat parameters total 56 points: Trion (6), Attack (14), Defense/Support (9), Mobility (8), Skill (8), Range (2), Command (7), Special Tactics (2). Feats include solo elimination of eleven Rabbits (predicted to challenge A-rank agents), destroying an armored Ilgar in self-destruct mode, rescuing Kō Murakami from Rabbits during Aftokrator's invasion, and halting a kamikaze attack on Border HQ. He defeated Hyuse in five of six spars, earning recognition as a rare talent even in Aftokrator.

Tachikawa Squad, under Kido's faction, lost Kyōsuke Karasuma to Tamakoma-1; current members are shooter Kōhei Izumi, gunner Takeru Yuiga, and operator Yuu Kunichika. Their operations room is notoriously chaotic. Tachikawa sets high expectations for Murakami, bluntly critiquing Suzunari-1's losses while acknowledging Murakami's potential. He indirectly mentors Osamu Mikumo by analyzing his ruthless rank-war tactics.

Tachikawa's rivalry with Jin began in Border's early days. Pre-Black Trigger, Tachikawa won most of their close matches, with Usami noting his superior swordsmanship. Jin's adoption of Scorpion balanced their duels. During the Black Trigger Retrieval Arc, Tachikawa led A-rank units against Yūma Kuga but was intercepted by Jin and Arashiyama Squad. Jin defeated him using his Side Effect and Black Trigger.

Outside combat, Tachikawa exhibits eccentric incompetence: misreading "danger," mistaking unplugged computers for broken devices, and eating only dried fruit from granola bars. Poor grades and minimal class attendance reflect his non-combat disinterest. These quirks contrast his battlefield prowess, alongside his childhood friendship with Ren Tsukimi and fanboy enthusiasm for Azuma's commentary.
