Description
Hitsuchi, also known as Hitsuchi-kun, is a supporting character from the anime Sagrada Reset. He is a thin, pale-skinned adolescent boy with short gray hair and brown eyes. His nickname is a reference to the message in Japanese telecommunication systems that announces a call could not be connected, such as when the destination number is not found. This name reflects his role as a mysterious and hard-to-reach figure.

Hitsuchi has a weak and sickly constitution, suffering from a severe case of mysophobia, or an intense fear of germs. His condition is so extreme that he cannot eat any food. To compensate for this inability to gain sustenance normally, his unique ability allows him to convert information into nutrients to survive. He survives by "sucking" information from other people, a process others have compared to an information vampire. This ability is dangerous; if he drains too much information from a target, it will kill them, as he once accidentally did to a girl named Mirai Minami. Because of this risk, the Administration Bureau arranges for him to work as an informant, allowing him to collect and consume information in a controlled manner that is safer for other humans. He is extremely averse to meeting people in person and prefers to handle all his business over the phone. When contacted, he will often fake a "destination number not found" announcement as a screening measure, requiring the caller to be persistent and call him continuously before he finally answers. He also uses a voice-changing device during these calls to further conceal his identity and location.

In personality, Hitsuchi is generally pleasant and calm. Following the accidental killing of Mirai Minami, he expresses regret for the incident, though he does not appear to show much physical or overt emotional remorse. He operates as a critical source of information within the story, particularly for the protagonist Kei Asai. He provides Kei with details on other ability users and helps him investigate past events. In one instance, he assists Kei by looking at a photograph of Sumire Souma, which triggers his memory of a visit from her two years prior, before her death. He reveals that Souma came to him to borrow another character's ability to create voice messages without the user remembering doing so. This connection proves to be a vital piece of evidence for Kei as he unravels the mysteries surrounding Souma's past and the nature of the town's abilities.

Hitsuchi's role in the series is that of an enigmatic information broker. His existence is tied directly to his ability, which is both a necessity for his survival and a potential weapon. He is not a field operative but instead functions from the shadows, providing the data others need to act. His name and behavior pattern of evading calls reflect a character who operates in the gaps of communication, only accessible when he chooses to be. His development is most notably tied to his past mistake of killing someone with his power, a tragedy that defines his cautious working relationship with the Bureau and his interactions with others. Despite his pleasant demeanor, he remains a solitary figure, set apart by his illness and the parasitic nature of his ability, making him a unique and essential asset in the intricate world of Sagrada Reset.
