Description
Habo, whose full name is Hablog, is a well-known and highly respected Black Whistle delver operating out of the town of Orth. He is a large, tall, and bulky man with a rough appearance softened by rounded facial features and a beard, typically wearing a wide-brimmed hat with a lamp and a brown coat.

Despite his imposing physique, Habo is known for his bright, kind, and open personality. His friendly and approachable nature has made him particularly popular with the children of Belchero Orphanage, who affectionately call him Habo or Habosan. He is also deeply curious, a trait that was immediately evident upon his first encounter with the robot Reg.

Habo's primary motivation is his aspiration to become a White Whistle delver, a goal he pursues with the passion of a self-proclaimed White Whistle maniac. However, his benevolent and sociable character may be better suited to leadership rather than the solitary and often twisted path of a White Whistle. He has a special interest in the legendary artifacts of the Abyss, which motivated him to accept a request to help Riko and Reg.

In the story, Habo serves as a supporting figure and a link to the surface. He is first seen delivering Lyza the Annihilator's White Whistle and final notes to Riko at the Delver's Guild. When Riko and Reg run away to begin their journey, Habo is asked by their friends Nat and Shiggy to help them. Using his exceptional speed and tracking skills, he easily catches up to them on the First Layer. Rather than forcing their return, he offers to escort them to the Seeker Camp, but Riko refuses. He then provides them with supplies, including medicine and food, and gives them a crucial warning to beware of the White Whistle Ozen the Immovable before allowing them to continue their descent.

Key relationships define Habo's role. He is a long-time friend of the legendary White Whistles Lyza and Ozen. He shares a bond with Jiruo, another caretaker from the orphanage, and they are known to spend time together. His wife is Laffi, who trusts him to always return from his delves. Most significantly, Habo has known Riko since her early childhood and acts as a warm, fatherly figure to her, sharing her curiosity about the Abyss. He continues to watch over her journey from afar, telling stories about the Abyss and the White Whistles to her worried friends Nat and Shiggy on the surface.

While Habo does not undergo a major personal transformation, his concern for Riko deepens as he witnesses her determination. He later expresses regret for not having followed her further, worrying that Ozen may not have revealed painful truths to her, and he internally begs Reg to protect her.

Habo possesses several notable abilities befitting a veteran Black Whistle. His most striking ability is his augmented speed; he can move at incredible velocities that far exceed a normal human, allowing him to quickly chase down targets on the First Layer. He is also a highly skilled leader capable of managing large expeditions, coordinating members from rival factions for a common purpose. His vast knowledge encompasses the Abyss itself and the elite White Whistles who explore its depths.
