Description
Hunter Foster, known in Japanese as Kiyama Tatsuya, is a key character in the alternate timeline presented in Inazuma Eleven Ares no Tenbin. He is a thirteen-year-old boy who grew up in the Sun Garden orphanage and attends Eisei Gakuen, an academy founded by Seijirou Kira, the man he considers his father. Within this academy, he serves as the captain of the soccer team, wearing the number ten jersey and playing as a forward.

Hunter is characterized by a strong sense of duty and a deep-seated desire to be useful to the man who raised him. Initially, he believes that his primary responsibility is to excel in his studies so he can eventually work for the Kira Group, feeling that playing soccer is a distraction from repaying his father for taking him in. His personality is grounded and caring, especially towards his teammates who are also his lifelong friends from the orphanage. He acts as the emotional anchor and the voice of reason for his team, often trying to mediate conflicts and unite the players around their shared dream of winning the Football Frontier.

Hunter's most significant relationship is with his teammate Xavier Schiller, whose real name is Hiroto Kira, the biological son of Seijirou Kira. Unlike the others, Hunter has known Xavier since they were young children, having first encountered him kicking a ball alone inside a large mansion in the forest. From that day on, Hunter would return often to play with him through a window, using a soccer ball to communicate. He was the one who told Xavier about the Football Frontier and asked him to participate in the tournament together in the future. This history creates a complex dynamic where Hunter is often the only one who can genuinely reach out to Xavier, attempting to ease his feelings of jealousy and convince him to collaborate with the rest of the team. Hunter sees Xavier as a crucial part of the team's success and works to bridge the gap between him and the other players.

Throughout the Ares no Tenbin storyline, Hunter's main motivation is to lead Eisei Gakuen to victory. His development is tied to reconciling his dream of playing soccer with his sense of obligation. Encouraged by his worried friends who want him to enjoy his childhood, he fully embraces his role as the team's captain and star player. He is a formidable player whose talent is recognized by others, with one character describing him as the light of his team. In the match against Inakuni Raimon, he takes charge and scores the first goal for Eisei Gakuen using his powerful signature hissatsu technique, Ryuusei Blade, a powerful shot that sends a meteor-like ball into the goal. As the captain, he represents the hopes of all the children from the Sun Garden, embodying their collective dream on the field.
