TV-Series
Description
Hanta Hattori is a player for Inakuni Raimon in the Inazuma Eleven Ares no Tenbin series. He is a midfielder and wears the number eight jersey. His most defining characteristic is his enthusiastic and earnest obsession with ninjas, having learned ninja techniques through a correspondence course and from watching many movies. This interest heavily influences his playing style and his self-image as a ninja in training.
Hanta has a small and slender build, being the shortest member of his team, with gray hair and black eyes. He typically wears a black scarf that covers most of his hair, which contributes to his somewhat androgynous appearance that has led others, such as Shiratoya Nae, to mistake him for a girl. Despite this, he is firmly a boy and becomes irritated when misgendered. His standard attire includes a dark shirt with a shuriken motif, reflecting his ninja persona.
Personality wise, Hanta is generally a nice and cheerful individual, but he also possesses a sharp sense of observation and can become very serious when necessary. He is notably more cautious and skeptical than some of his more optimistic teammates. This was evident during the match against Teikoku Gakuen, where he was the first to suspect something unusual about their opponents' slow-performing shoes and strategically stayed back on defense when others pushed forward. His keen observational skills are a direct result of his ninja studies, as he believes deciphering codes and detecting subtle strategies are a ninja's specialty.
In the story, Hanta was originally a member of the Inakuni team before the coach disbanded it. He, along with his close friend Iwato Takashi and the others, decided to travel to Inazuma Town to continue playing soccer, eventually forming Inakuni Raimon. He shares a particularly strong bond with Iwato, who affectionately calls him Han-chan, and the two are frequently seen together.
Throughout the Football Frontier tournament, Hanta plays a crucial role in several key matches. In the game against the powerful Teikoku Gakuen, he teamed up with Hiyori Masakatsu and Okuiri Hiro to perform the combination defensive hissatsu technique Gravity Cage, successfully blocking the formidable Koutei Penguin 2gou. His most significant personal achievement came during the match against Hakuren. By observing the hand gestures of the opposing coach and the bunny-eared fans in the stands, he was the first to break their complex formation strategy. This moment allowed him to showcase his developed abilities; inspired by a movie, he mastered an art of clairvoyance and used this insight to create and execute his solo shooting hissatsu, Ninpou Gamagaeru, which scored a critical goal for his team.
His development throughout the series centers on his practical application of ninja techniques to the sport of soccer, transforming his fandom into genuine on-field skills. His name, Hattori Hanta, is a reference to the legendary ninja Hattori Hanzou, cementing his thematic connection to ninja lore.
