Description
Asuto Inamori is one of the three main protagonists of the Inazuma Eleven Ares no Tenbin series, serving as a forward for the Inakuni Raimon team and later as a midfielder for Inazuma Japan in the sequel, Inazuma Eleven Orion no Kokuin. He is a young athlete known by the epithet the soccer boy chosen by the sun.

Asuto originally hails from the remote Inakunijima Island, where he played for the local soccer club alongside his childhood friends. However, the club was disbanded after losing its sponsorship, and Asuto witnessed the destruction of his beloved home field. During this difficult time, his mother fell gravely ill. Asuto was at her bedside when she passed away, an event that deeply affected him but also reinforced his determination to continue playing soccer. Following her death, he received a letter from his mother revealing that his father, whom she had told him died in an accident, was actually a professional soccer player who was still alive. She had hidden the truth to prevent Asuto from resenting his father or the sport itself. After these events, Asuto and the former members of the Inakuni club, along with a new teammate named Kozoumaru Sasuke, moved to Inazuma Town. There, they joined Raimon Junior High's soccer team, renaming themselves Inakuni Raimon to compete in the Football Frontier tournament and secure new sponsorship.

In terms of personality, Asuto is an upbeat, straightforward, and soccer-loving boy who approaches the sport with great enthusiasm. He initially held a simple mindset, believing that everyone played soccer purely for the joy of the game, but as he encountered a wider variety of opponents and motivations, he came to accept that people have different reasons for playing while still maintaining his own principles that soccer should be played fairly and with integrity. Asuto is known to be considerate of others and tends to avoid forcing his own views onto people. Rather than lecturing, he prefers to confront individuals privately and allow them to speak honestly about their feelings, which helped him connect with complex characters such as Haizaki Ryouhei and Ichihoshi Mitsuru. While he appears constantly positive on the surface, he tends to keep his deeper worries to himself, sharing them only with his closest friends. He thinks about potential negative outcomes before acting, which sets him apart from previous protagonists who acted more purely on optimism.

Asuto's primary motivation throughout the series is his love for soccer itself. He views the sport as something that gives him purpose and happiness, declaring that being able to play soccer is what makes him feel truly alive. This passion drives him to help his team succeed in the Football Frontier despite their underdog status, and later to represent Japan on the international stage. He is also motivated by a desire to protect the spirit of soccer from those who would use it as a tool for revenge, manipulation, or violence, and he openly opposes such tactics when he encounters them.

In the story, Asuto serves as the emotional core and a driving force for Inakuni Raimon. He plays a key role in many of the team's matches, often scoring crucial goals or making important defensive plays. In their first match against Seishou Gakuen, Inakuni Raimon suffered a devastating 10-1 loss, but Asuto helped rally his teammates to continue fighting. He scored the winning goal against Minodouzan after receiving a pass from Hiura Kirina's Koori no Ya technique, and he used his signature Inabikari Dash to evade Kazemaru Ichirouta and score against Teikoku Gakuen. In a critical moment against Teikoku, Asuto raced all the way back to his own goal to perform a sliding tackle on Sakuma Jirou, preventing a sure goal. Later, in the sequel series Orion no Kokuin, Asuto was selected for the national team Inazuma Japan, where he continued to be a key player and helped protect a teammate, Ichihoshi Mitsuru, from being isolated by the rest of the squad. His role in the story also involves confronting his past, including eventually meeting his father and coming to terms with the circumstances of his childhood.

Asuto forms several important relationships throughout the series. He is best friends with Hiura Kirina, one of his original teammates from Inakunijima, and they frequently confide in each other. He develops a strong on-field partnership with Kozoumaru Sasuke, with the two combining their hissatsu techniques frequently to score goals. He shares a friendly rivalry with Haizaki Ryouhei, initially clashing with him over Haizaki's revenge-driven approach to soccer but eventually gaining his respect. He also has a connection to Nosaka Yuuma, the third protagonist, though their interactions are often mediated by their differing perspectives. Asuto serves as a bridge between these two other protagonists, representing emotion in contrast to Haizaki's strength and Nosaka's intellect. He also shares a close bond with his goalkeeper, Norika Umihara, with whom he performs combination hissatsu techniques.

Asuto undergoes notable development over the course of the series. He begins as a relatively simple and idealistic boy from a small island, but through his experiences in the Football Frontier and later international competition, he matures into a more thoughtful player who can understand and respect different motivations while staying true to his own values. He learns to balance his personal feelings with the needs of the team and develops the ability to empathize with opponents rather than simply judging them. Some viewers have noted that compared to previous protagonists, Asuto receives less focus on his internal emotional struggles, with key moments of development sometimes feeling understated. Nevertheless, his growth centers on accepting the complexities of the soccer world while reaffirming his commitment to protect the sport's fundamental spirit, declaring that he could never betray what he loves no matter what happens.

Asuto possesses several notable abilities on the field. His most significant attribute is his exceptional stamina and speed, allowing him to cover large portions of the field and participate in both offense and defense extensively. His signature solo hissatsu techniques include Inabikari Dash, a dribbling move where he runs at incredible speed, flips over opponents while surrounded by lightning, and continues forward with the ball. His primary shooting technique is Shining Bird, an acrobatic bicycle kick performed in mid-air that sends the ball toward the goal surrounded by a golden beam and birds of light that merge into a single large bird as it approaches the net. In the Orion series, he later develops a second shooting technique called Sunrise Blitz.

Asuto is also highly proficient in combination hissatsu. He performs Hokkyoku Guma 2gou with Kozoumaru and Norika, summoning a giant polar bear that freezes the ball before all three kick it simultaneously toward the goal. He uses Meteor Drop with Hiura and Kozoumaru, where Hiura launches both forwards into the air for a powerful overhead kick. With Kozoumaru alone, he performs Counter Drive, where both players kick the ball from opposite sides simultaneously, and Bakunetsu Storm, an override technique that chains his Shining Bird with Kozoumaru's Fire Tornado. He is also part of Victory Line with Kozoumaru and Tatsumi Michinari, a triangular combination that creates a whirlwind. In Orion no Kokuin, Asuto contributes to Last Resort Σ, one of the strongest combination shots in the series, alongside Haizaki, Nosaka, and Hikaru Ichijouraj, delivering a powerful shot that transforms into four colored energy dragons.
