TV-Series
Description
Mirumo Tsukiyama is the head of the prestigious Tsukiyama family and the father of Shuu Tsukiyama, known as the Gourmet. He is one of the wealthiest and most extravagant ghouls in ghoul society, acting with the mannerisms of an upper-class gentleman and maintaining a sophisticated, European-influenced lifestyle. Mirumo is recognized for his flamboyant suits, unique hair color, distinct mustache, and deep round glasses that contribute to his refined appearance.

Background: Mirumo is the patriarch of the Tsukiyama family, a long-standing ghoul lineage that originally operated as a zaibatsu before transitioning into an import-export conglomerate known as the Tsukiyama Group. The family has a history of consanguineous marriages to preserve their bloodline, though this practice resulted in genetic defects that caused severe side effects if a family member consumed ghoul meat. Mirumo deeply loved his wife, who passed away when Shuu was still very young. His grief over her loss is a defining part of his background, and he continues to hold her memory close.

Personality: Mirumo is eccentric, flamboyant, and highly refined, presenting himself as a cultured aristocrat. Despite his eccentricities, he is fundamentally kind, compassionate, and deeply empathetic. He treats his servants and subordinates with genuine care and respect, earning their unwavering loyalty. He has a strong emotional intelligence and acts as a visionary leader. Mirumo often refers to himself as Papa when speaking of his son, and his speech and mannerisms reflect a theatrical and indulgent nature.

Motivations: Mirumo is driven primarily by his love and loyalty for his family, especially his son, Shuu. He wants Shuu to experience a passionate love similar to the one he shared with his late wife. He is also motivated by a desire to protect the Tsukiyama legacy and provide a safe, stable life for the ghouls who rely on his family's influence and resources. When faced with threats, his priority becomes ensuring Shuu's survival above all else.

Role in the story: Mirumo first appears in the Auction arc, where he participates as a major bidder under the alias Croque Monsieur. His role becomes more prominent during the Tsukiyama Family Extermination Operation, when the Commission of Counter Ghoul surrounds his manor. Initially, Mirumo surrenders peacefully, hoping to live out his remaining days as a human in captivity. However, upon learning that Shuu is in danger, he breaks free from his restraints and violently kills his captors to escape and rescue his son. His actions serve as a catalyst for Shuu's character development and the family's eventual downfall.

Key relationships: The most important relationship is with his son, Shuu Tsukiyama. Mirumo is a loving and protective father who dotes on Shuu and strives to support him, even when Shuu becomes obsessed with Kaneki. Their bond is strong; Shuu wrote a song for his father when he was young, and Mirumo drugged Shuu and sent him away from the estate during the CCG siege to protect him. Mirumo also shares a close bond with his loyal servants, particularly Kanae von Rosewald and Matsumae, who are part of the extended Tsukiyama family network. His relationship with the larger ghoul community is one of mutual dependence: he provides employment and sanctuary through the Tsukiyama Group, and in return, his employees and business associates are willing to sacrifice their lives for the family.

Development: Mirumo experiences a significant shift from a passive, surrendering figure to an active protector. His decision to escape and slaughter investigators marks a turning point where his fatherly instincts override his desire for a quiet life. This sacrifice ultimately ensures Shuu's survival, but it also leads to the effective end of the Tsukiyama family's public influence. His arc highlights the theme of parental love transcending personal safety.

Notable abilities: Mirumo is a capable and ruthless fighter when provoked. During his escape, he demonstrates considerable strength and agility, using his kagune to kill multiple trained investigators in a short time. He possesses a koukaku-type kagune, which manifests as a blade-like structure. Beyond combat, his most significant abilities are his political influence, immense wealth, and the deep loyalty he commands from his network of ghoul associates. These resources allow the Tsukiyama family to operate openly under the cover of a legitimate business empire for generations.
