Allan Kay, a scientist coerced into serving the terrorist group Humarise by threats against his family, applied his expertise to create Trigger Bombs. These devices release Ideo Trigger gas, inducing lethal and uncontrollable Quirk overactivation in victims. This aligned with Humarise's mission to eliminate Quirk users and avert their prophesied Quirk Singularity Doomsday. Though forced to participate, Kay secretly opposed Humarise's genocide. His colleague Eddie Soul covertly engineered a deactivation key with a kill code for the bombs. After Humarise executed Soul for this defiance, Kay seized the key and escaped. He concealed it within a puzzle box inside a briefcase, intent on reaching authorities to prevent global disaster. While fleeing across an Otheon highway, Kay was ambushed by Humarise agent Beros. Her Longbow Quirk destroyed his vehicle in a catastrophic crash. Severely injured and unconscious, Kay was hospitalized under police watch in critical condition. The briefcase vanished in the chaos and was mistakenly taken by Rody Soul, who confused it with another package. A microSD card inside the briefcase held Kay's recorded message. He identified himself as a kidnapped researcher and exposed Humarise's true strategy: deploying the bombs as decoys to draw global heroes into exposed positions for synchronized elimination. Kay implored the finder to activate the key and halt the genocide, resigning himself to likely death. The recording also honored Eddie Soul's sacrifice and inadvertently revealed to Rody that his father never willingly deserted his family. Incapacitated after the crash, Kay remained under guard and unable to aid in stopping the plot. Rody Soul and his Quirk manifestation Pino ultimately used the deactivation key to neutralize the Trigger Bombs at Humarise's headquarters, achieving Kay's goal. Surviving Humarise operatives, including leader Flect Turn, were arrested.
