OVA
Description
Mia Koji, also known in the original Japanese version as Nasti Yagyu, is a central non-combatant ally in the anime Ronin Warriors and its OVA Legend of the Inferno Armor. She is a young woman of mixed French and Japanese heritage, born in Canada, who was visiting her paternal grandfather in Japan when the forces of the Evil Dynasty, led by Talpa, began their invasion. Her grandfather was a university professor who dedicated his life to researching the mystical armors worn by the Ronin Warriors, and his work became the foundation of Mia’s own extensive knowledge about these artifacts and the ancient conflict surrounding them. After her grandfather was killed by a demon, Mia inherited his research and his house, which became the home base for the five warriors.
Mia’s background shapes her role in the story. She is not a fighter and possesses no supernatural powers or weapons, but her intellect, resourcefulness, and deep understanding of the armors are invaluable to the Ronin Warriors. In the original television series, she provides critical information, deciphers ancient texts, and helps coordinate the warriors’ efforts against Talpa. She also serves as a caretaker and emotional anchor for the group, especially for the young boy Yuli, to whom she becomes a maternal figure. In Legend of the Inferno Armor, set a few years after the original series, Mia is in her early twenties and continues to support the warriors. When a mysterious black-clad warrior wielding a black copy of the Inferno Armor appears, Mia helps decode an unknown language used by the antagonist Mukala and leads the warriors to the location where Ryo and Sage are being held. Her ability to connect the dots from her grandfather’s notes and her own observations is crucial to the team’s survival.
Personality-wise, Mia is intelligent, determined, and deeply loyal. She can be quick-tempered and assertive, especially when she feels the warriors are acting recklessly or when danger threatens those she cares about. Despite her occasional outbursts, she is compassionate and kind, treating the warriors like family. She harbors romantic feelings for Ryo, the leader of the Ronin Warriors, but tends to keep these emotions private and rarely shows them openly. Her motivations are driven by a sense of duty to continue her grandfather’s mission and a genuine desire to protect the world from the Evil Dynasty. Over the course of the story, Mia grows from a knowledgeable researcher into a more confident and decisive ally, willingly placing herself in harm’s way to aid the warriors. Her key relationships include her close bond with the entire Ronin Warriors group, her protective friendship with Yuli, and her unspoken affection for Ryo. While she has no combat abilities, Mia’s notable skills are her linguistic and historical expertise, her ability to operate and interpret ancient technology, and her knack for keeping the team organized and focused in crisis. She is often the one to find solutions when the warriors are at a loss, making her an indispensable member of the team despite her lack of armor or weapons.
