Maggie Blue O'Hara
Description
Maggie Blue O'Hara is a Canadian actress, born on March 16, 1975, in Victoria, British Columbia. She is primarily recognized for her extensive work as a voice actress in animated series and films, particularly in English dubs of anime produced in the 1990s and 2000s. She is also occasionally credited under the name Maggie O'Hara.
O'Hara's career began in the early 1980s, and she initially appeared in a number of live-action television series and TV movies. Her live-action credits include guest roles in prominent shows such as The X-Files, Da Vinci's Inquest, and Neon Rider. She also had a recurring role as a regular on the CBC Television series Northwood for three years.
However, O'Hara became best known for her voice work in animation. She possessed a voice well-suited for young teenage girl roles, which led to her being cast in numerous English-language adaptations of Japanese anime. Among her most notable and widely recognized roles are Madison Taylor in the series Cardcaptors and Kitty Pryde / Shadowcat in X-Men: Evolution. She also provided the voice for Bulma in the Ocean Group dubs of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z for a significant portion of the latter series.
Her filmography includes a wide array of other anime roles. As specified by the user, O'Hara voiced the character Mariemaia Khushrenada in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz Special Edition, Mia Koji in the Ronin Warriors OVAs (Gaiden), and Jun Kamishiro in Meltylancer: The Animation. Other prominent voice credits include Lime in Saber Marionette J and Saber Marionette R, Ai Amano in Video Girl Ai, Nanami Agawa in Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, and Hime Utsumiya in Brain Powerd. She also voiced several characters in My Little Pony Tales and, much later, Ultra Violet in seasons eight and nine of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.
Throughout her career based in Vancouver, O'Hara frequently collaborated with a recurring pool of voice actors associated with Ocean Studios. Her frequent co-stars included David Kaye, Brad Swaile, Paul Dobson, Scott McNeil, Brian Drummond, and Richard Newman, among many others.
In 2005, O'Hara moved to Hong Kong with her then-husband, sand-painting artist and animator Hoi Chiu. Together, they founded the All Theatre Art Association, a company that created and toured theatrical shows internationally to countries including England, Canada, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand. During her nearly ten years in Hong Kong, she continued her voice work, providing voices for electronic toys for brands like VTech and for the animated series The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends. She returned to British Columbia in early 2015, where she continued her work in voice acting, as well as performing and teaching.
