Description
Joe Shimamura, designated Cyborg 009, is the central protagonist of the 2012 film 009 Re:Cyborg. His background is rooted in tragedy and conflict. Originally a half-Japanese youth, he was an outcast who faced discrimination because of his mixed heritage. Before the events of this film, he was captured by the terrorist organization known as Black Ghost and unwillingly transformed into a cyborg, becoming the most advanced of the nine 00 cyborgs. Due to his cybernetic nature, Joe does not age normally. To cope with the psychological burden of his existence, his creator, Dr. Gilmore, implemented a protocol that resets his memories every three years, allowing him to live a temporary, peaceful life as a normal high school student with artificially implanted memories of a family.
