Mamoru Miyano is a prominent Japanese actor, voice actor, and singer born on June 8, 1983, in Saitama Prefecture. He began his career in entertainment at the age of seven in 1990 when he joined the Himawari Theatre Group. After working as a child actor, he made his formal debut as a voice actor in 2001 with a role in the live-action drama Caitlin's Way. His first major anime role came in 2003 when he voiced the lead character Kiba in the series Wolf's Rain.

Miyano's career advanced significantly with several high-profile roles in the mid-2000s. In 2006, he portrayed the charismatic Tamaki Suoh in Ouran High School Host Club and the complex anti-hero Light Yagami in Death Note. His performance as Light Yagami earned him two nominations at the inaugural Seiyu Awards. The following year, he was cast as Setsuna F. Seiei in Mobile Suit Gundam 00, a role that would contribute to him winning the Best Lead Actor Award at the 2nd Seiyu Awards in 2008 and the Best Voice Actor award at the Tokyo International Anime Fair the same year.

Throughout his career, Miyano has demonstrated remarkable range, taking on diverse characters across many popular series. He has voiced Rin Matsuoka in the Free! franchise, Shū Tsukiyama in Tokyo Ghoul:re, Osamu Dazai in Bungo Stray Dogs, and Rintarō Okabe in Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0. His work extends to roles in long-running franchises such as Ryōga Echizen in The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup, Shinmon Benimaru in Fire Force, Atsumu Miya in Haikyu!! To The Top, and Amai Mask in One Punch Man. He also took on the role of Gilthunder in multiple installments of The Seven Deadly Sins series, Kōtarō Tatsumi in Zombie Land Saga and its sequel, Pandora's Actor in Overlord IV and Isekai Quartet, and Tokiya Ichinose across the Utano☆Princesama franchise. Additional notable performances include Saruhiko Fushimi in the K project series, Ryuji Sakamoto in Persona 5 the Animation, Takumi Fujiwara in the Initial D Legend films, and Dent in the Pokémon: Black and White series. More recent roles include Hikaru Kamiki in Oshi no Ko and the title character in Kinnikuman Perfect Origin-Hen.

Beyond anime, Miyano has made significant contributions to video games, most notably as the long-standing Japanese voice of Riku in the Kingdom Hearts series, a role he has played since 2002. He has also lent his voice to international projects, such as Mario in the Japanese dub of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. In live-action, he has appeared in tokusatsu productions, providing the voice for the popular character Ultraman Zero in numerous films since 2009.

Concurrent with his acting career, Miyano has enjoyed success as a singer. He made his musical debut in 2007 with the single "Kuon" under the King Records label. He has released multiple albums and singles, many of which have charted well on the Oricon charts. His live performances have also been notable; in 2013, he became the first male voice actor to hold a solo concert at the prestigious Nippon Budokan arena. In 2015, he achieved another milestone as the first male voice actor to have a single top the Oricon daily chart.

Miyano's talent has been recognized with numerous awards throughout his career. In addition to his early wins, he received the Best Supporting Actor award at the 6th Seiyu Awards in 2012 for his work in series such as Uta no Prince-sama, Chihayafuru, and Steins;Gate. He also won a Singing Award at the 8th Seiyu Awards in 2014. His influence and popularity were further acknowledged with the Influencer Award at the 14th Seiyu Awards in 2020. He has also won Best Voice Actor awards from Newtype Anime Awards and the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

In 2025, after more than three decades with the Himawari Theatre Group, Miyano departed from the agency following the expiration of his contract.
