Description
Takumi Fujiwara developed exceptional driving skills starting at age 13 during early morning tofu deliveries for his father. He navigated Mount Akina's treacherous roads in a Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX (AE86), often in challenging weather. His father enforced a training technique with a cup of water in the vehicle's cup holder, demanding smooth driving to prevent spills and tofu damage. This regimen cultivated precise vehicle control and an instinctive understanding of weight transfer during cornering.

During middle school, Takumi met Itsuki Takeuchi, his closest friend. In high school, he joined the soccer club and befriended Natsuki Mogi. Their relationship became complicated when Takumi punched her boyfriend, Miki, for bragging about sexual exploits with her, causing a temporary rift.

Unaware of his racing prowess and initially uninterested in cars, Takumi unintentionally defeated professional racer Keisuke Takahashi during a delivery run, earning the moniker "White Ghost of Akina." This victory prompted formal challenges from regional street racers. Key early races included a downhill win against Takeshi Nakazato’s Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 and a dangerous "duct tape death match" where Takumi overcame Shingo Shoji’s dirty tactics.

Takumi and Natsuki rekindled their relationship in their final high school year, though it faced turbulence when he discovered her involvement with a salaryman. They reconciled, confessed mutual love, and briefly became romantically involved before separating after graduation. Natsuki moved to Tokyo for education while Takumi pursued racing in Gunma.

Takumi’s racing evolution continued under Ryosuke Takahashi’s mentorship in Project D as the downhill ace. He refined techniques like the "gutter run," using road drainage channels to maintain speed, and developed the "Blind Attack" overtaking maneuver. His adaptability was demonstrated when he learned to handle a Subaru Impreza WRX STI after his father defeated him in a downhill battle, revealing the AE86’s limitations.

Initially indifferent to racing, Takumi developed competitive drive and ambition to become the world’s best driver. His reserved personality masked intense concentration behind the wheel and strong willpower, noted by rivals.

After Project D disbanded, Takumi transitioned to professional rally racing and achieved world championship status. He married Mika Uehara, a relationship that began when she confronted him over Project D impostors, bonding over shared athletic aspirations. They married prior to the events of MF Ghost.
