Description
Riku Aoba is a 16-year-old male student whose life has been defined by frequent relocations due to his parents' work, resulting in eight school transfers during primary school alone. This transient existence prevented lasting friendships before his enrollment as a second-year in Class 2-A at Tsugumi High School, also known as Holy Cross High School. His history fosters a passive approach to relationships, where he sidesteps conflict and delays decisions to avoid hurting others, especially in romantic scenarios.

Standing 172 cm tall with brown hair and brown eyes, Riku exhibits a helpful, caring, and generally timid personality, though he demonstrates bravery when circumstances demand it. His friendly nature allows swift friendship formation despite his nomadic past. Uniquely, he communicates with Hiyokokko, a supernatural baby chicken residing at the school. Hiyokokko offers him occasional advice and enforces intense physical training for specific challenges.

At Tsugumi High, Riku becomes the frequent target of elaborate events orchestrated by student council president Haru Sakurai, including races where students pursue him for prizes like Sayuri Amamiya's contact information. His school life intertwines with three female students who develop romantic feelings: Tsukasa Kasuga believes he is her destined lover after a chance collision; Mina Yayoi grows attached when he assists her in retrieving a library book about dolphins and agrees to coach her swimming; and Sayuri Amamiya, the school's most popular girl, gradually falls for him after his accidental confession during a drama club audition.

Riku navigates these relationships while sorting through his own emotions, developing genuine affection for Sayuri. Misunderstandings arise, such as his mistaken belief that Sayuri harbors feelings for Haru. During a New Year's visit to his home, all three girls arrive separately, with Sayuri nearly confessing before an interruption. On Valentine's Day, Sayuri fails to deliver chocolates after learning of his impending transfer, deepening the confusion.

When his transfer is announced, both Tsukasa and Mina confess their feelings but are respectfully declined. Encouraged by Haru, Sayuri confesses under the Legendary Tree. Riku reciprocates her feelings before departing for Kirameki High School, establishing a long-distance relationship with Sayuri while maintaining occasional contact with others like Mina.

A mobile game spin-off, Tokimeki Memorial Only Love: Tokimeki no Partner, features Riku in athletic festival challenges where players recreate scenes from the anime, without introducing new character development beyond the series narrative.
