Description
Aoi Kaji is a 16-year-old student transferring into Class 2-2 of Seiso Academy's General Education Department. He stands at 172 cm (5'8") with blonde hair and striking blue-green or emerald green eyes. Born on November 12th, he is a Scorpio with blood type AB.

He comes from considerable wealth; his father is a politician and his grandfather owns a hospital, expecting Aoi to pursue medicine and eventually lead the institution. Though facing this pressure, his family granted him unusual freedom compared to peers of similar status. Before Seiso, he attended a prestigious public boys' school where he played tennis and regularly declined confessions from female students.

Aoi once played violin but quit following a childhood incident during a joint recital with Len Tsukimori. Hearing Len's performance triggered intense feelings of inferiority, causing him to withdraw and abandon the instrument entirely. He later took up the viola but lacks confidence due to insufficient formal training. Despite this insecurity, he possesses exceptionally sharp hearing, instantly detecting technical flaws in others' performances, and is remarkably skilled at tuning instruments quickly.

Intelligent, athletic, and outwardly polite, Aoi carries a subtle rebellious streak. Raised with formal etiquette, he addresses others respectfully yet harbors cynicism toward affluent upperclassman Azuma Yunoki. The two exchange sharp remarks, and Aoi is one of the few, alongside Kahoko Hino, who perceives Azuma's true nature beneath his polished facade.

A pivotal moment occurs when he hears Kahoko Hino playing violin in a park. Captivated, he becomes her self-declared "number one fan," returning daily in hopes of hearing her again. This devotion drives his transfer to Seiso Academy specifically to be near her. In her class, he openly expresses admiration, greeting her each morning with compliments and kissing her hand while declaring his sole intent was to meet her. He politely declines other confessions, stating complete dedication to Kahoko, even disguising himself as a mascot to infiltrate a store opening where she performs.

Kahoko's influence gradually helps him confront his musical insecurities. Witnessing her perseverance and genuine love for the violin inspires him to refocus on music's emotional essence over technical perfection. By continuations like "Corda FF," at age 20, he shows ongoing personal and artistic development.

His hobbies include playing tennis and reading. His name reflects symbolic elements: "Aoi" means hollyhock or althea, while his surname "Kaji" incorporates the character for "earth" (地), aligning with the series' motif of astronomical bodies.
