Description
In a dystopian future where the world is in decline, wolves, believed to be extinct, still exist but disguise themselves as humans to survive. The story centers on Kiba, a lone white wolf driven by an instinctive search for Paradise, a mythical place rumored to be accessible only to wolves. Kiba encounters three other wolves—Tsume, Hige, and Toboe—each with their own struggles and motivations. Tsume is a hardened loner, Hige is carefree and pragmatic, and Toboe is a young, naive wolf seeking companionship. Together, they form a pack and embark on a journey to find Paradise, guided by the scent of Lunar Flowers, which are said to be the key to opening the path to this fabled realm.
Their journey intertwines with the lives of humans, including Cheza, a mysterious girl known as the Flower Maiden, who is deeply connected to the Lunar Flowers and the wolves' quest. Cheza is pursued by Lord Darcia, a nobleman obsessed with unlocking Paradise for his own purposes, and by the scientist Quent Yaiden, who seeks to control Cheza for his experiments. The wolves face numerous challenges, including betrayal, loss, and the harsh realities of a world on the brink of collapse. As they draw closer to their goal, the line between hope and despair blurs, and the true nature of Paradise is revealed to be far more complex than they imagined.
The narrative explores themes of survival, identity, and the search for meaning in a decaying world. The wolves' journey is both physical and spiritual, as they grapple with their instincts, their relationships with one another, and their place in a world that has forgotten them. The story unfolds with a blend of action, introspection, and tragedy, culminating in a poignant and thought-provoking conclusion that leaves the nature of Paradise open to interpretation.
