Jörg Hengstler was a German actor and voice actor, recognized for his extensive work in dubbing, particularly for anime and live-action films and series. He was born on October 31, 1956, and passed away in 2024 at the age of 67.

Hengstler began his career as an on-screen actor, appearing in various German television productions, including the long-running series Polizeiruf 110 and Tatort during the 1980s and 1990s. In the 1990s, he shifted his focus primarily to voice acting, becoming a prominent figure in the German dubbing industry. He was the German dubbing voice for numerous international stars, including Quentin Tarantino, Bill Paxton, Adrian Paul, Eriq La Salle, and Philip Glenister.

Within the anime community, Hengstler was best known for his long-standing role as the voice of Kogoro Mori, which he performed for over two decades across the television series and numerous films in the Detective Conan franchise. His portrayal began with the first German Detective Conan film in 1997 and continued until his death. This role is considered his signature part in anime.

Beyond Detective Conan, Hengstler voiced several other notable anime characters. He provided the German voice for Kokuyou in Dr. Stone: Stone Wars and its sequel, Dr. Stone: New World. He also voiced Harold in the 2019 anime film Black Fox. His other anime credits include the role of Darcia in Wolf's Rain, Dabra in Dragon Ball Z, Lord Darkar in Winx Club, and Bois in The Weathering Continent. He also voiced the Marvel character Nick Fury in the animated film Iron Man: Rise of Technovore. Hengstler was also widely recognized by a younger audience for his voice work in non-anime animation, most prominently as Larry the Lobster in the popular series SpongeBob SquarePants.
