Johnny Yong Bosch is an American actor widely recognized for his extensive career as a voice actor in English dubs of anime series and films. Born John Jay Bosch on January 6, 1976, in Kansas City, Missouri, and raised in Garland, Texas, he developed an early interest in martial arts, inspired by performers like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan, and won several competitions. His heritage includes a Korean mother and an American father of Irish and German descent.

Bosch's career in entertainment began in live-action when he joined the cast of the television series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in 1994. He took on the role of Adam Park, the second Black Ranger, and continued with the character through subsequent iterations, including Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Turbo, as well as feature films. This early role provided his initial entry into the industry.

He transitioned to voice acting in 2001 with a significant role as Kaneda in a new English dub of the landmark anime film Akira. This opportunity led to his first major anime series lead, voicing the protagonist Vash the Stampede in Trigun, a performance that helped establish him in the field. A particularly defining role soon followed with his casting as the main character, Ichigo Kurosaki, in the long-running and popular series Bleach, a part he continued for the series' final arc, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.

Throughout his voice acting career, Bosch has portrayed a wide array of prominent characters across numerous genres. He has taken on iconic leading roles such as Lelouch vi Britannia in Code Geass, Renton Thurston in Eureka Seven, and Izaya Orihara in Durarara!!. He has also voiced significant characters in major franchises, including Giyu Tomioka in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Sabo in One Piece, and Artemis in the Viz Media redub of Sailor Moon. His repertoire extends to characters like Nobita Nobi in the Stand By Me Doraemon films, Lio Fotia in Promare, Bam in Tower of God, Makoto Tachibana in Free!, and Haruo Yaguchi in Hi Score Girl, among many others.

In addition to anime, Bosch is a prolific voice actor in the video game industry. He is well-known for providing the voice and motion capture for Nero in the Devil May Cry series and for his performances as Yu Narukami and Tohru Adachi in Persona 4, as well as Hajime Hinata in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. He has also contributed voices to games such as the Mortal Kombat, Final Fantasy, and Marvel vs. Capcom franchises.

In 2019, Bosch became the new English voice for the characters Broly in Dragon Ball and Sabo in One Piece, taking over the roles in Funimation's dubs. His work has earned him recognition within the industry, including two nominations for the American Anime Awards. Beyond acting, Bosch is also a musician, having fronted the band Eyeshine and later forming the group Where Giants Fall.
