Artemis is a white, plush toy cat with green eyes and a golden collar featuring a crescent moon pendant. He serves as the guardian, mentor, and constant companion to Minako Aino, the idol who becomes Sailor Venus. Artemis first appears by falling from the direction of the moon on Christmas night, landing near Minako, and from that moment he awakens her powers and guides her into her role as a protector. He possesses more accurate and complete memories of the ancient Silver Millennium than his counterpart Luna, using this knowledge to help the Sailor Guardians understand their past lives and true mission. His personality balances seriousness with a gentle, supportive concern; he is deeply committed to fighting evil and protecting the Moon Princess, yet he frequently shows uncertainty and worry about the dangers Minako faces. Unlike a strict instructor, Artemis acts as a true friend and confidant, caring for Minako both as a Sailor Senshi and as an ordinary civilian. He is the only person in whom she initially confides her secrets and struggles. Artemis does not have a human form and does not join in direct physical combat; instead, his role is strategic, providing the Sailor Guardians with special items and guiding them from the sidelines.
