Pisces Albafica is the Gold Saint of Pisces in the eighteenth-century Holy War of Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, serving as the guardian of the twelfth temple of the Sanctuary, the final line of defense before the chambers of the Pope and of Athena. He is known within the Sanctuary as the Incarnate Poison, a title that reflects both his greatest weapon and his deepest burden.
Albafica was born in the Netherlands and abandoned as an infant in a field of demon roses, flowers that release deadly poison and are the traditional weapons of the Pisces Saints. He survived because he possessed a naturally strong resistance to poison. He was found by the Pisces Gold Saint of the time, Lugonis, sometimes romanized as Rugonis, who took him in as both a disciple and an adoptive son. As part of his training, Albafica underwent a ritual of repeated blood exchanges with his master, the Crimson Bond. Over many years, his body grew accustomed to the poison and developed immunity to nearly all toxins, but the process also turned his own blood into a lethal poison that would kill anyone who came into contact with it. In the end, his master was poisoned by the very blood they had exchanged and died, telling Albafica that he had surpassed him and would become a greater Pisces Saint than he had been. Albafica carried the guilt and grief of that loss for the rest of his life.

He deliberately faces the Specter Griffon Minos and his group alone, using cleverness and endurance to compensate for his disadvantage. When Minos uses his marionette ability to control his opponent's movements, Albafica intentionally dislocates his own arm to break free of the manipulation. His final battle against Minos costs him his life. Even while gravely wounded and nearly drained of blood, he unleashes a final Crimson Thorn, a technique that draws on his remaining blood as a poisonous projectile. His death serves as a selfless stand that protects his allies and the Sanctuary, and it leaves a lasting impression on those who knew him.
