Description
Kirius, a primary character from the anime Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne, is a young man from the planet De Metrio. His full name is Larks Lestorine Hakirius. At nineteen years of age, he is the son of a fallen noble family, a background that has instilled in him a strong sense of pride and duty. He is easily identified by his long purple hair, which reaches past his hips, and his blue eyes.

In terms of personality, Kirius is defined by his extreme seriousness and rigid adherence to protocol. His overly earnest nature often leads him to misinterpret the more unconventional and eccentric actions of others, such as the protagonist Madoka Kyouno, taking them far more literally or gravely than intended. While he possesses great skill, his inflexible mindset is frequently cited as his primary flaw.

Kirius's motivations are rooted in loyalty and a desire to protect his homeworld. He, along with his comrades Izo and Array, was a student at De Metrio's Royal Military Training Aviation Academy. The three swore an oath to Princess Yurikano, dedicating themselves to her will. This oath drives them to pilot the ovid, a type of robotic weapon, named Libertas. Their primary goal is to safeguard De Metrio from the conspiracies of the rival faction Regalitero.

Initially, Kirius and his companions serve as antagonists, descending to Earth to confront the Vox, the mysterious mecha piloted by Madoka. He engages Madoka in battle multiple times, though he finds her unorthodox fighting style difficult to predict. However, his role evolves significantly as the story progresses. After a period of inaction, where he observes life in the coastal town of Kamogawa, Kirius begins to question his orders. He witnesses Madoka selflessly save a drowning child, an event that offers him a new perspective on her character. Ultimately, he and his fellow pilots turn against their original commander, Villagulio, questioning whether his destructive plans align with Princess Yurikano's true desires. Following this betrayal, he integrates further into the local community, even taking a job at Madoka's uncle's shop.

Kirius's key relationships are central to his development. He shares a deep bond with Izo and Array, functioning as a unit with them from their time at the academy through their missions on Earth. His loyalty to Princess Yurikano is the cornerstone of his actions, and his eventual rebellion is framed as a more authentic way to honor her legacy. His relationship with Madoka transforms from that of enemy to something more complex; he gains respect for her as he learns about her past and her selfless nature, which is inspired by her mother, who died saving another from drowning.

Over the course of the narrative, Kirius experiences a notable development from a rigid, mission-focused soldier to a more independent individual capable of making his own moral choices. He learns to question authority and finds a new purpose beyond his original orders, settling into a peaceful life on Earth working alongside the people he once fought.

In terms of abilities, Kirius is a formidable combatant, particularly renowned for his swordsmanship, a skill in which he is said to be second to none. This prowess translates to his piloting of the ovid Libertas, where he employs sword-based combat techniques. His fighting style is precise and disciplined, reflecting his personal character.
