Description
"Ao no Exorcist," also known as "Blue Exorcist," is set in a world divided into two realms: Assiah, the human world, and Gehenna, the demon world. The story centers on Rin Okumura, a teenager who discovers he is the son of Satan, the ruler of Gehenna. Raised by Father Fujimoto, an exorcist, Rin lives a relatively normal life until a series of events reveal his demonic heritage. When Satan attempts to possess Rin to enter Assiah, Father Fujimoto sacrifices himself to protect him. In the aftermath, Rin vows to become an exorcist to defeat Satan and avenge his adoptive father.

Rin enrolls at True Cross Academy, a school that trains exorcists, alongside his twin brother Yukio, who is already a skilled exorcist. Despite his demonic powers, Rin struggles to control his abilities, which manifest as blue flames. The series explores his journey to master his powers while concealing his true identity from his peers. Rin’s relationships with classmates, including the determined Shiemi Moriyama, the hot-headed Ryuji Suguro, and the pragmatic Konekomaru Miwa, play a significant role in his growth.

The narrative delves into the conflict between humans and demons, with exorcists serving as the primary line of defense. Rin’s dual nature creates tension, as he is both a target for demons and a potential threat to humans. The series balances action-packed battles with emotional moments, particularly in Rin’s struggle to reconcile his human and demon sides. Themes of identity, family, and redemption are central to the story, as Rin seeks to prove his worth and protect those he cares about.

As the plot progresses, Rin faces increasingly powerful adversaries, including demons and rogue exorcists. The series also explores the history of the Okumura family and the broader implications of Rin’s existence as Satan’s son. The dynamic between Rin and Yukio evolves, with Yukio grappling with his own insecurities and the burden of protecting his brother. The story builds toward a climactic confrontation with Satan, while also addressing the moral complexities of the exorcist world and the blurred lines between good and evil.

1The Devil Resides in Human Souls
Rin Okumura lives with his foster father Shiro Fujimoto,a priest who also raises Rin’s younger twin brother Yukio. One day Rin interrupts a boy being attacked by demons and accidentally manifests blue flames from his body, wounding the creatures. Shiro reveals that Rin is the biological son of Satan, born from a human woman, and that the blue flames are his demonic inheritance. Shiro has raised Rin to suppress this power, using the sword Kurikara to seal it. That night, Satan himself descends upon the monastery to reclaim Rin. Shiro engages Satan in battle, buying Rin time to flee, but suffers fatal wounds. In desperation, Rin draws the Kurikara, breaking the seal and transforming into his demon form. He drives off Satan’s attacking minions but arrives too late to save Shiro, who dies after entrusting Rin with the sword and the path of an exorcist. Consumed by guilt and a vow to avenge his foster father, Rin resolves to become an exorcist and defeat Satan. He travels to True Cross Academy, where Yukio already works as an instructor, and requests admission to the exorcist cram school. The episode closes with Rin stepping through the academy gates, his demon nature now publicly sealed by the sword he carries, yet his goal set squarely against the father who destroyed his family.
2Gehenna Gate
Rin Okumura awakens in a monastery infirmary and learns from his brother Yukio that Satan is his biological father. Yukio reveals that the Kurikara sword had sealed Rin’s demonic power since birth. Drawing the sword during the previous attack broke the seal and released his blue flames. Father Fujimoto’s death compels Rin to accept his heritage. Yukio,an exorcist for the Vatican’s Japanese branch, transports Rin to True Cross Academy. Director Mephisto Pheles presents Rin with two options: seal his demonic power again or train as an exorcist to hunt Satan. Rin chooses the latter, insisting on confronting his father directly. Mephisto enrolls Rin in the academy’s exorcist cram school and assigns Yukio as his homeroom teacher. On his first day, Rin struggles to suppress his flames and draws the attention of classmates, including Shiemi Moriyama. Yukio warns Rin that the Order will execute him immediately if they discover his demon identity. Rin must now conceal his true nature while mastering exorcist techniques designed to destroy his own kin.
3Brothers
Mephisto Pheles arrives at the Southern Cross Monastery in a pink limousine to retrieve Rin Okumura. Yukio Okumura steps out of the vehicle alongside Mephisto, surprising Rin. The three travel together to True Cross Academy, where a welcome ceremony introduces the new students. Yukio delivers a speech to the assembled crowd, establishing his role at the institution. Mephisto gives Rin a tour of the grounds before directing him to the Cram School, the specialized building for exorcist training. Rin enters the classroom and takes a seat among the other students. Yukio enters the room shortly after and announces himself as their teacher, stunning Rin. Rin questions Yukio’s authority in front of the class, leading Yukio to order the other students to wait outside. The two brothers argue inside the classroom until Rin accidentally knocks over a container of liquid. The spilled substance attracts multiple hobgoblins, which materialize and attack. Yukio draws a gun and questions Rin about Shiro Fujimoto’s death, provoking Rin’s anger. The brothers work together to defeat the demons, combining their abilities to eliminate the threat. After the battle, Rin learns that Yukio has been assigned as his roommate in the dormitory. The episode closes with the two brothers sharing a living space, establishing the new terms of their relationship under the same roof.
4Komainu
Instructor Yukio Okumura leads the Exwire class to a training ground where a Komainu,a guardian beast, tests their ability to move without provoking attack. Students split into groups to cross the beast’s territory. Rin Okumura’s group, which includes Shiemi Moriyama, struggles as the Komainu fixates on him due to his demonic aura. Ryuji Suguro and his allies observe Rin’s failure and openly question his competence and suspicious nature. Rin, frustrated by his inability to hide his presence, abandons stealth and confronts the Komainu directly, igniting blue flames in the process. Yukio steps in and subdues the beast, then privately tells Ryuji that Rin is his twin brother without revealing their demon heritage. Ryuji reluctantly accepts the explanation but remains wary. After the exercise, Rin declares his resolve to control his power and become an exorcist, rejecting any special treatment. The other students begin to view him with a mix of skepticism and grudging acknowledgment. The episode closes with Rin and Yukio returning to the academy, where the next trial—a practical exam in the forest—already looms.
5A Boy from the Cursed Temple
The Exwire class receives a field assignment to investigate a temple plagued by a demonic presence. Yukio Okumura assigns Rin Okumura,Ryuji Suguro, Shiemi Moriyama, and Konekomaru Miwa to the mission under his supervision. At the temple, the group meets the head priest and his son Juzo, who shows open hostility toward Rin. The demon manifests as a massive entity that targets Juzo specifically. Rin draws Kurikara to strike the demon, but Yukio orders him to stand down and handle the exorcism with a formal ritual instead. Shiemi successfully summons her familiar, Greenman, to restrain the demon while the others prepare the purification. During the struggle, Juzo reveals that the demon was once his mother, who sacrificed herself to protect him from a curse. The exorcism severs the demon’s hold, allowing her spirit to pass on. After the mission, Yukio privately warns Rin that drawing his sword in front of other exorcist candidates jeopardizes his secrecy and their father’s legacy. Rin struggles with the restriction, realizing that concealing his demonic power may cost lives. The episode closes with Mephisto Pheles observing Rin’s growing instability and hinting at a larger test to come.
6The Phantom of the Academy
Rin Okumura and his cram school classmates investigate the Seven School Mysteries after a student reports seeing a ghostly figure at night. The group splits into teams to patrol the academy grounds. Rin,Shiemi, and Ryuji encounter a spectral hand that emerges from a wall and attacks them. Rin retaliates with his blue flames, but the fire surges beyond his control, forcing his companions to retreat. Yukio arrives and extinguishes the flames with a precise incantation, revealing his rank as an exorcist instructor. He identifies the entity as a Kodama, a low-level demon that feeds on human fear to materialize. The students suppress the demon by steadying their emotions and dispelling its illusions through coordinated effort. After sealing the Kodama, Yukio formally acknowledges his position as a teacher and as Rin’s younger brother—a connection the others had already suspected. The confrontation leaves Rin acutely aware of his unstable control over his Satanic flames, a weakness that risks exposing his heritage. He commits to mastering his power despite the danger, driven by his aspiration to become a Paladin. The episode ends with the arrival of Amaimon, a demon dispatched by the Gehenna Court to test Rin’s abilities.
7A Flock of Plovers
Yukio Okumura distributes applications for a week-long boot camp, the Exwire exam that will qualify students as Exorcist candidates. Lecturer Igor Neuhaus instructs the class on summoning familiars, a skill natural to Tamers, but only Izumo Kamiki and Shiemi Moriyama succeed in the attempt. Shiemi, eager to form a friendship, asks Izumo to be her friend, and Izumo pretends to agree. Rin Okumura notices Izumo sending Shiemi on errands and taking advantage of her kindness; he confronts Shiemi, but she insists on handling the situation herself. The students gather at an old dormitory for the exam's practical component. Izumo and her best friend Noriko Paku go to the bathhouse, where a naberius ghoul attacks Paku. Izumo summons her two white fox familiars, but her fear causes them to turn against her. Rin arrives and instructs Izumo to tear her summoning circles, destroying the familiars to stop their rampage. Shiemi uses her greenman familiar, Nee, to treat Paku's wound while Rin engages the ghoul. Yukio arrives and shoots the demon, but it escapes before they can eliminate it. After the attack, Rin finds Izumo crying and throws his shirt over her face, allowing her to hide her tears while telling her to leave before anyone sees her.
8This Is a Test
Mephisto Pheles gathers the Exwire candidates in a forest and announces a practical exam. Each team must collect three ingredients while avoiding a demon that amplifies and feeds on fear. Rin Okumura,Shiemi Moriyama, and Konekomaru form one team and enter the forest. The demon projects illusions tailored to each person’s deepest fear. Rin sees Shiro Fujimoto’s death and his own blue flames consuming others. Shiemi sees her grandmother bedridden and her own perceived uselessness. Konekomaru sees himself abandoned by his teammates. Rin’s fear triggers his flames, and he nearly loses control, creating a visible blue glow. Yukio, monitoring through a communication device, orders the team to evacuate, fearing Rin’s secret will be exposed. Shiemi breaks free from her illusion by recalling Rin’s earlier words and physically pulls him back. Rin extinguishes his flames after realizing the illusion is not real, but the incident leaves scorched earth. The team collects the required ingredients and returns. Yukio privately confronts Rin, stating that any further loss of control will force him to reveal Rin’s identity to the other exorcists. Rin promises to master his flames, but the unresolved friction between the brothers intensifies as the exam continues.
9A Home for the Spore
A mold demon spreads through the True Cross Academy grounds, infecting students and faculty with spores that cause rapid vegetation growth. Rin Okumura and his classmates join the extermination effort, but Shiemi Moriyama notices the mold originates from her family’s garden. She travels there alone to protect her grandmother and the plants, only to be overwhelmed by the demon’s spores. Yukio and Rin track her, discovering the demon has merged with the garden’s central tree and is using Shiemi as a host. Rin ignites his blue flames to burn the demon, exposing his Satanic power to Yukio and the other exorcists present. Yukio shoots a tranquilizer round into Rin to stop him from losing control, then publicly claims credit for the flame attack to shield Rin’s secret. Shiemi recovers physically but confronts the fear that her connection to the garden made her a target. The other exorcists express suspicion about the unexplained blue fire, increasing scrutiny on Rin. Yukio warns Rin that revealing his demonic nature again would force them to leave the academy permanently.
10Proof of Courage
Rin Okumura’s demonic lineage becomes public, and the other Exwires retreat in fear. Konekomaru Maruyama verbally distances himself, while Shiemi Moriyama freezes, unable to reconcile his kindness with his nature. Rin withdraws to the dormitory roof, where Yukio finds him and admits he has always known their shared origin. Yukio reveals he carries a firearm loaded with bullets meant to kill Rin if he loses control; Rin accepts this but demands Yukio stop treating him as a fragile charge. Inside, the Exwires debate Rin’s fate—Ryuji Suguro argues that Rin’s actions during the Amaimon attack prove his intentions, but the group remains divided. Shura Kirigakure arrives and summons Rin to a secluded area, forcing him to demonstrate command over his blue flames by attacking repeatedly until he ignites and extinguishes his power on command. Rin endures the brutal training to gain the group’s trust. By evening, the Exwires gather in the common room; Rin returns and declares he will stay despite their distrust, refusing to abandon his goal of becoming a Paladin. Shura informs the group that she will supervise Rin, and anyone unwilling to accept the arrangement may leave. No one exits. Rin faces the lingering tension but secures a fragile acceptance, while the looming threat of the Illuminati continues to build.
11A Night of the Crescent Moon
Rin Okumura’s demonic nature becomes public knowledge after his blue flames erupt during the battle with Amaimon. Yukio shoots Rin with a tranquilizer dart to subdue him in front of their classmates. The Exorcist Order places Rin under arrest, and Shura Kirigakure guards him in a sealed room at the academy. Yukio confronts Rin alone, revealing his own fear and frustration over Rin’s reckless decision to reveal his identity. Yukio admits that he had been ordered to kill Rin if Rin ever became a threat. Rin responds with defiance, insisting he will still become the Paladin to defeat Satan. Meanwhile, the other students in the cram school react with confusion and fear, with some expressing distrust and others showing reluctant support. Shiemi Moriyama struggles with her feelings, unsure how to approach Rin after learning the truth. The Order’s leadership discusses Rin’s fate, debating whether to execute him or use him as a weapon against Satan. Mephisto Pheles observes the situation with detached amusement, hinting at his own hidden agenda. The episode closes with Rin confined, his resolve unshaken, while Yukio faces the burden of his dual role as brother and handler.
12A Fight to the Death
Rin Okumura ignites his blue flames in full view of his classmates and the attending exorcists, revealing his demonic nature during the confrontation with Amaimon. The Earth King Amaimon continues his assault on the academy grounds, forcing Rin to wield his inherited power without restraint. Yukio arrives on the scene and draws his gun on Rin, demanding he stop, but Rin refuses to abandon the fight while others remain in danger. Rin’s flames overpower Amaimon, sending the demon retreating and leaving a crater in the courtyard. Mephisto Pheles descends from a floating door and declares the incident under control, then summons the remaining exorcist candidates to witness the aftermath. Rin braces for execution or imprisonment, expecting the Order to condemn him for his Satanic heritage. Instead, Mephisto announces that Rin will remain enrolled as a student, using the cover story of a special training accident to explain the destruction. Yukio reveals that Mephisto assigned him as Rin’s supervisor and jailer from the start, a secret that creates an immediate rift between the brothers. The other students struggle to reconcile Rin’s demonic power with the person they know, their trust fractured but not entirely broken. Rin publicly states his intention to continue on the path to becoming an exorcist, accepting the scrutiny and suspicion that now follows him. The episode closes with the academy’s leadership formally sanctioning Rin’s presence while the threat of Amaimon’s master, the Impure King, looms as the next crisis for the exorcist order.
13Proof
Rin Okumura’s blue flames erupt during his fight with Amaimon, exposing his demonic nature to every exorcist and trainee in the monastery. The witnesses immediately recognize the flames as proof he is Satan’s son. Yukio Okumura faces the fallout: his position as a member of the Order and his role as Rin’s protector collide, leaving him forced to comply with the Vatican’s orders. The Vatican decrees Rin’s execution, deeming his existence an unacceptable threat. Mephisto Pheles halts the immediate killing by proposing a compromise: Rin must kill a high-level demon to prove his loyalty, or he will be executed. The other exorcist candidates react with fear and turn against Rin, isolating him completely. Shiemi Moriyama struggles to reconcile her personal feelings with the group’s hostility but offers Rin quiet support. Rin accepts Mephisto’s trial, choosing to fight for his right to live rather than submit to execution. He accepts the reality that his peers now see him as an enemy. The trial begins with Rin facing a demon alone, knowing that failure means death and success only delays the Order’s judgment.
14A Fun Camping Trip
Summer vacation begins at True Cross Academy, but the Exwires face a three-day combat drill disguised as a camping trip in the forest. The group hikes with heavy packs; Rin carries two due to his demonic strength. At the campsite, Rin cooks for everyone, and his skill prompts memories of Shiro teaching him to help others rather than harm them. Yukio announces the exercise: hidden in the forest are three lanterns, and any student who retrieves one with its flame still lit earns permission to join real missions. Darkness falls, and swarms of chuchi—moth-like demons—attack the students. Rin hears Shiemi scream, finds her unconscious, and unleashes his blue flames to drive the creatures away. In the distance, Ryuji notices a blue glow but does not connect it to Rin. Rin, Shiemi, Ryuji, Renzou, and Konekomaru regroup and discover one lantern, a massive peg lantern that devours living things and specifically pursues women. The group constructs a cart and devises a plan to transport the lantern across a broken bridge. Ryuji maintains a sealing chant throughout the operation. The plan succeeds in getting the lantern across, but Rin accidentally destroys the bridge, breaking a seal and awakening a colossal chuchi from the water below. The giant demon grabs Rin, leaving the group in immediate danger.
15Episode 15
At the Kyoto branch, the right eye of the Impure King’s corpse emits a powerful miasma, forcing Shura Kirigakure and the other exorcists to erect a containment barrier. Rin Okumura attempts to burn the eye with his blue flames but finds his power insufficient against the growing corruption. Inside the barrier, Tatsuma Suguro removes a seal from the left eye, revealing he secretly kept the other eye to delay the Impure King’s revival. The left eye activates and merges with the right, fully resurrecting the Impure King as a massive, decaying demon. Tatsuma admits he acted without the Order’s knowledge to buy time, but his concealment brands him a traitor. Bon Suguro confronts his father, struggling between his duty as an exorcist and his loyalty to family. Rin steps in to defend Tatsuma, arguing the man’s intent was to protect Kyoto, yet the Impure King begins its advance toward the city. Yukio Okumura and the other exorcists scramble to reorganize their defensive lines while the Order’s leadership debates Tatsuma’s immediate execution. Rin’s flames prove ineffective against the demon’s sheer mass, leaving the group without a decisive countermeasure. With the Impure King fully awakened and the Order’s internal judgment unresolved, the exorcists face the dual pressure of stopping the demon and addressing the fallout of Tatsuma’s betrayal.
16The Demon of the Deep Forest
The Exwire class travels to a forest in Aomori for a practical exam supervised by Shura Kirigakure. Instructors divide the students into teams and task them with locating a demon that has been abducting local residents. Rin Okumura and Shiemi Moriyama form one team and enter the deeper parts of the forest. Shiemi recognizes the area from visits with her grandmother, who maintained a hidden garden there decades earlier. While exploring, Rin accidentally ignites a tree with his blue flames after a startled reaction to a small creature. The fire provokes Nee, a massive demon that serves as the forest’s guardian. Nee attacks by consuming and corrupting the surrounding vegetation, trapping Rin and Shiemi. Shiemi activates her Greenman powers to communicate with Nee and learns the demon perceives all intruders as threats following past human encroachment. She convinces Nee that their group seeks only to resolve the disappearances, which were caused by a lesser demon already captured by another team. Rin extinguishes his flames completely, and Nee calms, allowing them to leave. The class returns to True Cross Academy, where they find the Earth King Amaimon waiting inside the dormitory. Amaimon states he has come to test Rin’s strength and immediately attacks, dragging Rin into a battle that threatens the entire academy.
17Temptation
The Exwire class continues their assignment in Kyoto to contain the Impure King. Rin Okumura struggles to control his blue flames, fearing exposure of his demonic lineage. When the Impure King launches a massive attack, Rin shields his comrades by igniting his sword, revealing his flames to several classmates. Shura Kirigakure intervenes, ordering Rin to stand down while she confronts the demon. Yukio Okumura attempts to maintain order among the group, but the sight of Rin’s flames sows immediate distrust. Konekomaru and Shiemi react with shock, while Bon demands an explanation from Rin. Rin admits his identity as the son of Satan, confirming their suspicions. The group fragments as some members recoil from Rin. Shura discloses that the Vatican assigned her to monitor Rin, adding another layer of institutional scrutiny. The Impure King remains active, and the exorcists’ internal division weakens their ability to respond. With Rin isolated from his peers and the Impure King’s miasma spreading, the remaining exorcists must decide whether to trust him or face the demon divided.
18Guile
Rin Okumura remains imprisoned in a reinforced cell beneath the Vatican. Yukio Okumura visits him,and the brothers argue over Rin’s decision to reveal his demonic heritage. Yukio accuses Rin of recklessness, while Rin insists he accepted his power to protect others. Above ground, the Exorcists debate Rin’s fate: Mephisto Pheles advocates keeping him alive as a weapon, while others demand execution. Shiemi Moriyama and Ryuji Suguro struggle to reconcile their trust in Rin with the threat his flames pose. Amaimon breaches the Vatican’s defenses, targeting Rin to reclaim him for Gehenna. The attack forces the guards to flee, and Rin breaks free from his restraints to confront Amaimon. Their battle spills into the courtyard, where Rin unleashes his blue flames in full view of the assembled Exorcists. Yukio arrives and fires a shot at Amaimon, but Rin blocks it, shielding his brother. The clash ends with Amaimon retreating, leaving Rin exhausted and surrounded by wary Exorcists. The Vatican now views Rin not only as a danger but also as their only viable defense against the next demon incursion.
19Episode 19
The Exorcist Order confines Rin Okumura to a high-security cell beneath True Cross Academy. A seal on his collar suppresses his blue flames, rendering him powerless. Yukio Okumura, acting as an Order representative, delivers the verdict: Rin is forbidden from continuing as an exorcist and must remain under permanent surveillance. Shiemi Moriyama visits Rin but struggles to speak, her fear and uncertainty visible. Bon (Ryuji Suguro) confronts Rin with direct anger, accusing him of hiding his demonic heritage and deceiving their group. Rin accepts the accusation without defense, prompting Bon to acknowledge that Rin never used his power for personal gain. Bon declares that he will trust Rin based on their shared battles, not on his lineage. Shura Kirigakure breaks protocol to release Rin from the cell, arguing that the Order’s decision does not erase the lives he saved in Kyoto. Rin’s friends gather outside the cell, each reconciling their personal fears with the actions they witnessed firsthand. Yukio remains divided between his duty to the Order and his bond with Rin, ending the episode without choosing a side. The group forms a fragile alliance around Rin while the Order’s leadership continues to view him as a controllable threat. Mephisto Pheles observes the events from a distance, signaling that Rin’s status will soon draw the attention of the Illuminati.
20Virtue vs. Vice
Rin Okumura engages Amaimon in combat atop the True Cross Academy roof. Amaimon sheds his human guise and assumes the full form of the King of Earth, unleashing earth-based attacks that tear through the building. Rin counters with his inherited blue flames, but the fire spreads uncontrollably, forcing him to pull back. Shura Kirigakure arrives and binds Amaimon with her Koma sword, yet the demon shatters the restraint and resumes his assault. Yukio Okumura watches from below, his own status as a demon’s son pressing him to act but leaving him unable to intervene directly. Shura reveals she was assigned to eliminate Rin if his flames ever endangered bystanders. Rather than withdraw, Rin unleashes his full power, directing a concentrated blaze that consumes Amaimon and drives him to retreat. The effort leaves Rin’s body scorched and his strength exhausted. Shura, seeing he chose to risk himself to protect others, lowers her blade and abandons her kill order. The exwire students who witnessed the fight struggle to reconcile their fear of Rin’s demonic nature with their loyalty to him. Mephisto Pheles orders Rin confined for observation, stating his survival now hinges on whether he can master his flames before the next enemy strikes. The episode closes with Rin isolated from his peers, while the Illuminati’s plans and the Gehenna Gate remain immediate, unaddressed threats.
21Kuro
Rin discovers a small black cat hiding in the academy grounds and recognizes it as Kuro, the familiar once bound to his foster father Shiro Fujimoto. Kuro, untamed after Shiro’s death, grows to enormous size and begins destroying academy buildings, forcing Rin and Yukio to confront the rampaging demon. Yukio prepares an exorcism ritual to eliminate Kuro, prioritizing the safety of the students and the facility. Rin hesitates, recalling the bond Shiro shared with Kuro and the cat’s loyalty during his childhood. He refuses to let Yukio kill Kuro and instead approaches the demon, speaking directly to it and calling it by name. As Rin’s blue flames inadvertently flare up, Kuro responds to the familiar scent of Shiro’s bloodline and begins to calm. Yukio reluctantly holds his fire while Rin extends his hand, offering to become Kuro’s new master. Kuro, recognizing Rin’s sincerity and connection to Shiro, accepts the pact and shrinks back to its small form. The episode ends with Kuro taking up residence in Rin’s dorm room as his familiar, while Yukio acknowledges that Rin’s emotional bond succeeded where a tactical exorcism would have killed the demon. Tensions between the brothers persist over Rin’s demonic nature, and the closing scenes show the Illuminati’s agents making discreet advances, signaling an approaching larger confrontation.
22Demon Hunt
After Mephisto Pheles publicly reveals Rin Okumura as the son of Satan, the True Cross Order issues a kill order. Rin retreats with his brother Yukio, but the Exwires and several Exorcists surround them. Shura Kirigakure attempts to shield Rin, but the Order strips her of her rank and restrains her. Yukio draws his guns on Rin, expressing his long-held resentment and fear of Rin’s demonic power. Rin defends himself with his blue flames but struggles to control them, causing collateral damage. The Exwires, including Shiemi Moriyama, Ryuji Suguro, and Renzo Shima, intervene, trying to stop the violence without harming either brother. Konekomaru and Juzo Shima also appear with reinforcements. Rin refuses to fight back against Yukio, choosing to let Yukio shoot him. Yukio hesitates, and the blue flames surge uncontrollably, threatening to consume the area. Shiemi reaches Rin, calming him by embracing him and calling him by name. The flames subside, and Mephisto arrives, announcing that Rin’s trial will be held. The episode ends with Rin in custody and the Exwires divided over their next actions.
23Truth
Ernst attempts to connect Assiah to Gehenna using the True Cross Academy rooftop as the ritual site. Yukio offers his pure demon blood to aid his father's plan. Satan appears and seizes control of Yukio, revealing the circumstances of the twins' birth. Their mother Yuri chose to give birth to Rin and Yukio despite their demonic origin. Her father Ernst ordered her and the infants to be burned for this transgression. Satan repeatedly possessed human bodies to protect Yuri, but each vessel proved too weak and perished. This series of possessions triggered the catastrophic event known as the Blue Night. Satan ultimately resides in Ernst's body before confronting Yukio. Yukio learns he serves as a suitable vessel because he is Satan's direct offspring. Unlike other humans, Yukio already carries Satan's power from birth and will not be destroyed by the possession. Satan fully inhabits Yukio's body, establishing a new threat for Rin. Rin faces his brother now acting as a vessel for their father.
24Mephisto's Laugh
The Vatican places Rin Okumura under arrest after his demonic heritage becomes public. Yukio confronts Mephisto Pheles, accusing him of deliberately exposing Rin to force a confrontation. Mephisto admits he manipulated events to test whether Rin could control his flames and serve as a weapon against Satan. Vatican officials move to extract Rin’s demon heart, intending to use its power to open the Gehenna Gate. Shura Kirigakure breaks her own orders and frees Rin, telling him to run. Rin refuses to flee, instead choosing to wield his blue flames openly to protect those who still stand with him. Yukio, torn between his duty as an exorcist and his loyalty to his brother, lowers his gun and joins Rin’s side. Mephisto watches the rebellion with amusement, revealing that the chaos plays directly into his long-term plan. The remaining members of the Exwire class rally to Rin, forming a barrier against the Vatican forces. Rin’s acceptance of his demonic power solidifies his resolve to fight not for revenge but for the bonds he has built. The episode closes with the group barricaded inside the academy, knowing the Vatican will retaliate with full force.
25Stop - Time
Rin and Yukio stand at the entrance of the Gehenna Gate as Satan’s flames surge outward. Yukio fires his pistol repeatedly, but the bullets evaporate before reaching their father. Satan demands Rin surrender his body, offering to spare Yukio in exchange. Rin refuses and ignites his blue flames, engaging Satan directly while Yukio provides covering fire. The brothers coordinate their attacks, forcing Satan to materialize a physical form to strike back. Yukio seizes the opening to inject a syringe of demon-killing poison into Satan’s manifested body. The wound does not kill Satan but destabilizes his hold on the gate. Rin thrusts his sword into the gate’s core and unleashes all his flames, burning away the connection between Assiah and Gehenna. His flames extinguish completely, leaving him unable to reignite them. Satan retreats into Gehenna as the gate seals, and Mephisto appears to confirm Rin’s powers are gone. Back at True Cross Academy, Yukio resumes his role as Rin’s instructor while Rin struggles to adapt to a life without fire. Mephisto observes them and remarks that the next threat already stirs within the order’s own ranks.
