Nathalie Bienaime
Description
Nathalie Bienaime is a French actress, primarily known for her extensive work in dubbing, where she is the French voice for numerous characters in animated series and films. Born on February 19, 1968, in Troyes, France, she initially pursued studies in fine arts before being drawn to theatre through the influence of her brother, actor Didier Bienaimé. She trained as a stage actress and performed in various theatrical productions before entering the world of dubbing in 1999, facilitated by a fellow actor she met during a play.
Bienaime has become a highly prolific voice in French dubs of anime, lending her voice to a wide array of characters across different genres and age groups. Her career in anime spans over two decades, with some of her earliest and most notable roles including the young protagonist Gon Freecss in the first adaptation of Hunter x Hunter and the shrine maiden Anna Kyoyama in the 2001 version of Shaman King. She is also recognized for voicing the determined and skilled fighter Ray in The Promised Neverland and the cunning Guila in The Seven Deadly Sins.
One of her most iconic and long-standing roles is that of Mikasa Ackerman in the globally popular series Attack on Titan, a character she has voiced across all seasons, including The Final Season, as well as the compilation films. Her versatility is further showcased in the Sword Art Online franchise, where she voices the blacksmith Lisbeth (also known as Rika Shinozaki) across multiple series and the Ordinal Scale film, as well as the characters Lonie and Rinko in the Alicization arc. In Record of Ragnarok, she takes on the role of the goddess Aphrodite.
Beyond these prominent titles, her extensive filmography includes voicing Nonon Jakuzure in Kill la Kill, Akira Mado and Rize Kamishiro in Tokyo Ghoul, Shura Kirigakure and Shiemi Moriyama in Blue Exorcist, and the young Yuzuru Nishimiya in the critically acclaimed film A Silent Voice. She also voiced the character Marie in the series Great Pretender and has had roles in films such as Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva and The Piano Forest.
Throughout her career, Bienaime has frequently collaborated with a consistent group of voice directors and fellow actors. Her work is often associated with directors such as Bruno Meyère, with whom she has worked on projects like Record of Ragnarok and Great Pretender, and Philippe Roullier, the director for The Seven Deadly Sins. Her ability to voice a wide range of characters, from young boys like Gon Freecss and Bart Simpson (a role she has held since the show's 23rd season) to adult women like Mikasa Ackerman, highlights her significant range and skill. In addition to her voice work, Nathalie Bienaime has also expanded her expertise to include voice direction, serving as a director on several animated series and films.
