Description
Mikasa Ackerman, of partial Asian heritage and Ackerman lineage, grew up on farmlands near Wall Maria. Her childhood shattered at age nine when human traffickers slaughtered her parents and tried to abduct her. Eren Yeager intervened, urging her to fight. Mikasa killed one attacker, awakening latent Ackerman abilities that unlocked enhanced combat instincts and physical prowess. Eren gave her a distinctive scarf afterward, her most treasured possession symbolizing their bond.

Following this trauma, Mikasa lived with Eren's family in Shiganshina District. She witnessed the Fall of Wall Maria in 845, seeing Titans devour her foster mother, Carla Yeager, an event cementing her view of a cruel yet beautiful world. She then enrolled in military training with Eren and Armin Arlert. Mikasa excelled as the top graduate of the 104th Training Corps due to exceptional agility, strategic acumen, and mastery of vertical maneuvering equipment.

Her personality blends stoicism with intense loyalty, particularly toward Eren. She maintains emotional detachment and level-headedness in crises, though threats to Eren provoke fierce protective instincts that can override tactical judgment. Her combat effectiveness is unparalleled among peers, often equated to multiple soldiers combined. Initially, she lacked personal ambition, viewing military service solely as a means to safeguard Eren.

Mikasa's character evolved through military engagements. After prioritizing Eren's safety above all else—even disobeying orders to protect him—she gradually formed independent bonds with comrades like Sasha Blouse. The loss of friends during conflicts challenged her resilience, notably when Eren's apparent death during the Battle of Trost District briefly shattered her will to live. She recovered upon witnessing his survival and Titan transformation, reaffirming her resolve.

Later revelations about the Titans' origins and Eren's genocidal "Rumbling" plan forced Mikasa to reassess her loyalties. She confronted Eren directly when peace negotiations failed, ultimately killing him to halt global destruction despite enduring affection. This act fulfilled a latent familial connection to Ymir Fritz, freeing her from eternal suffering and eliminating Titans worldwide. Mikasa later visited Eren's grave regularly for decades, keeping her scarf as a memento until her natural death.

Physically, she has black hair, gray eyes, and an athletic build, often in Survey Corps uniforms. A scar below her right eye resulted from Eren's Titan form during combat. Her trademark scarf remained constant except during ideological separation from Eren, discarded temporarily before reclaiming it for their final encounter.
