Description
Guila is a Holy Knight from the kingdom of Liones and a prominent member of the so-called New Generation of knights, a group granted immense power through the forbidden act of drinking demon blood. She is the eldest daughter of Dale, a Holy Knight from the older generation who disappeared during a mission, leaving her to care for her younger brother, Zeal. Her devotion to Zeal is the central driving force behind almost all of her actions.
Physically, Guila has a slim build with long black hair and notably narrow, piercing eyes that often appear as if they are closed. Her initial attire as a Holy Knight is a simple white outfit, but she later adopts a full suit of armor. Despite her formidable exterior, her personality is a complex mixture of discipline, deep-seated insecurity, and fierce protectiveness. On the surface, she is a focused and ruthlessly efficient knight, confident in her newfound abilities and coldly dedicated to her missions. However, this mask hides a vulnerable individual who harbors a complex about her own perceived weakness and a fear of being unable to protect what matters most. Her loyalty and sense of justice are not absolute; they are strongly tied to her personal connections, particularly her brother. She shows a sarcastic wit and a capacity for genuine warmth towards those she trusts.
At the start of the story, Guila's primary motivation is to secure a safe and honorable life for her brother. The disappearance of her father, branded a traitor, left her isolated and determined to earn power and status to prevent anyone from looking down on her family again. This led her to undergo the demon blood ritual, becoming part of Hendrickson's New Generation. She initially serves as a loyal subordinate to Helbram, working to eliminate the Seven Deadly Sins. Her role evolves from a primary antagonist to a conflicted ally. Her turning point occurs during the battle to rescue Princess Elizabeth, when the giant Diane risks her life to save Zeal. In that moment, Guila's loyalty shifts, and she chooses to betray her superiors, joining forces with the Seven Deadly Sins to protect the one who saved her brother.
Guila's key relationships are deeply formative. Her bond with her younger brother, Zeal, is her most significant connection; she declares she will do anything for him, and her initial decision to consume demon blood was made specifically to gain the power to protect him. She shares a strong camaraderie with fellow Holy Knight Jericho, with whom she often works and shares a mutual trust, making Jericho's later turn to Camelot a personal conflict. After the battle with Hendrickson, her dynamic with Princess Veronica undergoes a dramatic change. Having nearly killed the princess during their first encounter, Guila is surprised when Veronica forgives her based on a shared understanding of protecting a sibling, and she subsequently accepts a role as Veronica's swordsmanship instructor. Her relationship with the sin of lust, Gowther, is one of the most unusual in her life. To prevent her from turning into a monster due to the demon blood, Gowther altered her memories, implanting false ones where he was her loving fiancé. After this manipulation is undone, Guila chooses not to hold a grudge, even expressing gratitude for the fact that Gowther’s spell allowed her to remember her late father more clearly.
Throughout the series, Guila undergoes significant development, transitioning from a blind follower of a corrupt system to an individual who makes her own moral choices. She is one of the few New Generation members who retains her enhanced powers after the demon blood crisis is resolved, and she learns to master them on her own terms. Her journey is one of self-acceptance, moving from a place of deep insecurity to a more confident and principled knight who serves the kingdom she once helped destabilize. Years later, she achieves the historic rank of Vice Great Holy Knight, the first woman to hold the position, demonstrating her growth and the trust the kingdom places in her.
In combat, Guila is a highly skilled fencer, typically wielding a rapier and, on occasion, a lance that amplifies her abilities. Her inherent magical power is called Explosion, which allows her to freely generate and control detonations. She deploys this power in a variety of creative ways: she can launch homing fireballs with Drift Bomb, scatter multiple projectiles with Shot Bomb, and set delayed explosive traps with Killer Mine. Her most powerful technique involves concentrating her magic to call down a shower of explosive spheres, an attack known as Brilliant Detonation. The demon blood she consumed also granted her access to Hellblaze, the black, inextinguishable flames of the demon realm. Her power level is recorded as 1,350, with her magical ability being her strongest attribute by a significant margin.
