Description
Luck Voltia is a Magic Knight from the commoner region of Ibon who serves in the Black Bulls squad and later also joins the Royal Knights. He is also the human vessel for the elf Lufulu. Luck is a prodigy in Lightning Magic, which he uses primarily for high-speed offensive combat. His fighting style relies on closing distance instantly, overwhelming opponents with relentless pressure, and maintaining a tempo that prevents them from reacting. His signature spells include Thundercloud, Lightning, and Electrified Speed, the last of which enhances his agility to superhuman levels. Over the course of the story, he refines his abilities further, learning true lightning techniques under the guidance of another mage and developing greater tactical awareness.

Luck’s most defining trait is his persistent, almost unshakeable smile. This smile is not a natural expression of joy but a behavior imposed by his mother during childhood. She conditioned him to believe that his only value lay in winning fights and that he must always smile, regardless of how he actually felt. As a result, Luck became a combat fanatic who seeks out the strongest opponents possible, driven by a need to prove his worth through victory. He appears unable to show any emotion besides exhilaration during battle, and his single-minded pursuit of powerful foes often makes other Magic Knight squads reluctant to recruit him. Underneath the cheerful exterior, however, lies a deeply complicated emotional state shaped by conditional love and the death of his mother before she could offer unconditional acceptance.

His motivations are rooted in the thrill of combat itself and the validation that comes from defeating strong enemies. He constantly looks forward to fights and will recklessly throw himself into dangerous situations for the excitement. Despite this, he becomes a reliable member of the Black Bulls as the story progresses. His role shifts from a reckless solo fighter to a front-line attacker who can work alongside his teammates. He develops a friendly rivalry with Magna Swing, and the two often push each other to improve. He genuinely respects Asta for his determination and resilience, and he finds resonance in Captain Yami’s philosophy of surpassing one’s limits. His relationships with the rest of the squad, such as Noelle Silva, are characterized by contrasting personalities that lead to comedic yet supportive interactions.

Luck’s development is gradual and not resolved in a single moment. The Black Bulls provide an environment where he can experience genuine connection rather than performance. Through battles in major story arcs—such as the Royal Capital Invasion, the Elven Reincarnation, and the Spade Kingdom invasion—he learns to control his powers more effectively and begins to untangle the genuine happiness he feels from the forced smile he was taught. His arc involves finding real reasons to fight beyond proving his worth to a parent who damaged him, and he grows into a more strategic and emotionally grounded fighter. His notable abilities remain centered on lightning, but his mastery deepens significantly as he confronts increasingly formidable enemies.
