Johannes Walenta
Description
Johannes Walenta is a German voice actor known for his work in dubbing foreign films and television series into German. Born on October 6, 1991, in Potsdam, Germany, he began his voice-acting career at a young age after his piano teacher, whose own children were involved in voice work, suggested he try out for roles. His early start was facilitated by a high demand for children's voices in dubbing. One of his first major roles was providing the German voice for the title character in Roman Polanski's 2005 film, Oliver Twist. This opportunity led to further work, and from 2005 to 2008, he gained significant recognition for voicing the protagonist Aang in the German-language version of the acclaimed animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Walenta's career encompasses a wide range of characters in both film and television. In anime and animation, beyond his iconic role as Aang, he has voiced Luck Voltia in Black Clover, Akane in Divine Gate, and Hiyori Tōno in the Free! film series, including Free! Take Your Marks and Free! Road to the World - the Dream. He also took on the role of Zeldris in The Seven Deadly Sins: Imperial Wrath of the Gods and its preceding season, The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments. In addition to animation, his voice work includes dubbing live-action roles for actors such as Josh Hutcherson in the Journey films (Die Reise zum Mittelpunkt der Erde and Die Reise zur geheimnisvollen Insel) and Thomas Mann in films like Project X and the series Fargo. More recently, he has provided the German voice for characters in series such as Locke & Key and the anime Solo Leveling.
Outside of voice acting, Johannes Walenta is a multifaceted artist. He studied communication design and illustration at the Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle, from which he graduated in 2016. He works as a freelance artist and illustrator, creating work for bands, magazines, and art exhibitions, and is part of an artist duo called Papa Gallosch. He is also a musician, playing keyboard for the band Kaskadeur. While his voice-acting work saw a hiatus during his university studies, he has continued to take on roles, contributing to a diverse body of work that spans animation, live-action dubbing, and creative arts.
