Description
Akane is a sixteen-year-old male and one of the main heroes in the narrative. He is a user of fire-based abilities, which defines his combat role and is a core aspect of his identity as an adapter. Akane lives with his mother, and his family life is a significant part of his background. He is a high school student with a straightforward and honest personality, often speaking his mind without hesitation. While he appears to be the type who dislikes being indirect, he also has a caring nature and is known to be kind to most people he meets, even if he sometimes hides this trait. This kindness is coupled with a strong sense of justice and a hotheaded streak, which can lead him to make reckless decisions.

The driving force behind Akane's actions is the mysterious death of his father, who was a researcher for the World Council and was said to have died in an accident during an experiment. Akane is proud of his father and refuses to believe that such a careful and brilliant man could have died due to a simple mistake in his work. This doubt has led him to question the World Council itself. His primary motivation is to reach the Divine Gate because he firmly believes that doing so will allow him to learn the truth about what happened and reunite with his father.

In the story, Akane is a proactive figure who, along with others, attempts to persuade the protagonist Aoto to join their academy following a significant incident on a train. He has a notable reaction to Aoto's declaration of having killed his own parents, as Akane deeply hates this statement, finding it offensive given his own love for his father and his suspicion that his father's death was not an accident. Akane shares a close friendship with Midori, a user of wind abilities. He also has a crucial relationship with a companion named Ifrit. After Ifrit falls in combat against an enemy named Surt, Ifrit later returns in the form of a guardian spirit. This transformation provides Akane with a massive increase in power, making Ifrit a central source of his enhanced abilities. His actions in the conflict eventually lead to him being branded a criminal and placed on a wanted list, forcing him into hiding for a time. Despite this, he chooses to return to the front lines to stop the escalating holy war, operating from the shadows when necessary but stepping back into the open to fight for what he believes is right. He forms an alliance with a warrior named Leora, who is ordered to support his mission, and together they infiltrate the royal capital of Tintagel to confront the powers behind the war.

Akane's development is marked by significant growth through life-or-death struggles, which harden both his combat skills and his resolve. Initially driven by personal loss and a quest for truth, his experiences lead him to take on a larger role as a central figure in resisting a world-threatening holy war. His notable abilities are centered on his fire element, channeled through a device known as a Driver, specifically a Type-A device called Ignite. After Ifrit becomes his guardian, his strength increases dramatically, and his Driver is upgraded to a more powerful version known as Ignite Reat, symbolizing his new stage of growth and enhancing his combat potential significantly.
