Description
Erika Takatō is a sixth-grade student and a talented soccer player who serves as a key member of the Momoyama Predators. Originally from Osaka, she was the former ace of the Namba Dandelions, where she earned the nickname Speed Star due to her exceptional sprinting speed and ball control. After her team disbanded, she transferred to Shou Oota's school in Tokyo, where she becomes one of the first recruits for the newly reformed team. On the field, she typically plays as a left forward or midfielder, wearing the number 7 jersey.

Erika has a cheerful, energetic, and direct personality. She is frank in her communication and does not hesitate to speak her mind, making her a strong-willed and sometimes confrontational individual. A defining aspect of her character is her sensitivity and complex regarding gender. She is deeply hurt and angered when boys claim they are better than her simply because she is a girl, and she struggles with the physical challenges of adolescence that begin to favor male players. This frustration is a central part of her personal journey. Despite this, she is a loyal friend, particularly to Reika, and while she initially clashes with the arrogant Furuya triplets, she comes to respect their abilities.

Erika plays a crucial role as the driving force behind the team's formation. When Shou Oota aims to rebuild the disbanded Momoyama Predators, Erika is his first target. An important turning point occurs when she and Shou meet Misaki Shimizu, a professional female soccer player. This encounter helps Erika realize that women can excel at a high level and that she can continue to level up her own game. Her journey also involves confronting institutional sexism; she quits the team after it falls apart and attempts to join the rival team Heaven, only to be rejected because of her gender. Her development involves learning to overcome these external and internal obstacles, dealing with casual sexism and the physical changes of growing up that affect boys and girls differently.

In terms of abilities, Erika is a technically skilled and exceptionally fast attacking player. Her most notable asset is her explosive acceleration and top speed while dribbling, which allows her to effectively take on defenders. She possesses good ball control and powerful shooting technique, making her a constant threat on the wing. Beyond her physical skills, she is a passionate and determined competitor who refuses to be underestimated. Her key relationships include her friendship with Reika, her rivalry and eventual respect for the Furuya brothers, particularly Kota who often underestimates her teammates, as well as a one-sided crush on a player named Aoto.
