Description
Twenty-Fifth Bam, also known as Jue Viole Grace, is the central protagonist of this story arc. He is an Irregular, a being who opened the Tower's doors on his own rather than being chosen. His early life was spent in almost total isolation in a dark cave, where his only companion and source of light was a girl named Rachel. She taught him to read, write, and dream of the outside world, specifically the sky and the stars. His sole driving force for entering the Tower was to find and be reunited with her.
Following the events on the Second Floor, Bam was presumed dead but was in fact taken by the shadowy organization known as FUG. To erase his past identity and forge him into a weapon, he was given the new name Jue Viole Grace, a name that honors his presumed parents, Arlen Grace and V. His personality undergoes a dramatic and noticeable shift from the first part of the story. The naive, caring, and empathetic boy who hated loneliness has become distant, cold, and far more violent. He speaks very little, rarely shows emotion, and acts in a calculating manner, taking advantage of situations to defeat opponents. This change is a direct result of his forced conscription into FUG; he has closed himself off from others both to protect his own heart from further pain and to keep others from the dangers that surround him. Despite this hardened exterior, he retains a deep-seated empathy for others, and the guilt he feels for his actions likely contributes to his misery and self-punishing behavior.
As Jue Viole Grace, his primary motivation is not his own desire but the will of FUG. He has been forced into the role of a Slayer Candidate, a position that designates him as a living weapon meant to one day kill King Zahard. He openly declares himself the enemy of the King and his kin, stating that he lives for their death. However, this is not a role he chose willingly; his situation is a forced one, driven by the organization's desire to use him as a tool.
In the story The Return of the Prince, Viole is first encountered on the 20th Floor, where he quickly demonstrates his overwhelming power by easily defeating several other Regulars, including future teammates Ja Wangnan and Kang Horyang. Despite his cold declaration that none of them are worthy to be his teammates, he is forced to cooperate with them to pass the tests. He forms the core of Team Tangsooyook, a group that gradually becomes close despite his initial hostility. His role is that of an immensely powerful, enigmatic figure shrouded in the ominous reputation of FUG.
Key relationships define his actions and inner conflict. His relationship with Rachel, though she is not present at the beginning of this arc, is the foundational betrayal that led him to this point. His former teammates, particularly Khun Aguero Agnis, believe him to be dead, and Viole keeps his distance to protect them from FUG. His master and trainer within FUG is Ha Jinsung, a High Ranker from the powerful Ha Family, who taught him many of his formidable techniques. He is also guided by the mysterious Hwa Ryun, a FUG member who serves as his guide.
The character's development in this arc is centered on the tension between his forced role as the cold Slayer Candidate Viole and his original identity as the empathetic Bam. He is being forged into a lethal weapon against his will, and his arc is one of internal struggle, slowly revealing that his heart has not completely changed, as he shows glimpses of care for his new teammates like Ja Wangnan and Yeon Yihwa despite his harsh words. This period of his life concludes with him being rescued by his old friends during the Workshop Battle, allowing him to shed the Viole persona and reclaim his original name.
Notable abilities set him apart from other Regulars. He has been trained in the martial arts and shinsoo control techniques of FUG, including the devastating Floral Butterfly Piercing Technique which can destroy targets from the inside out. He possesses an unique talent for copying any shinsoo technique he witnesses, even those of Rankers, after seeing them only once. This includes abilities like Love's Blue Oar, a high-speed movement technique, and Fast Skip, which freezes shinsoo to paralyze opponents. When injured, he can manifest a strange, lobster-like exoskeleton that rapidly heals his wounds. He is also a Wave Controller, able to create and control multiple "baangs" or orbs of shinsoo, and demonstrates a proficiency with Lighthouses that goes beyond his primary position. While he has not yet fully mastered it during this arc, he is also the designated wielder of the mysterious and immensely powerful "Thorn," left behind by the Irregular Enryu. His power is such that even as a C-Class Regular, he is capable of feats that astonish Rankers.
