Description
Hovernyan debuted centrally in a theatrical release, first emerging in an altered Meganyan state after excessive air consumption. As Meganyan, he inadvertently caused chaos by enlarging objects during his search for a chosen individual to confront a major threat. His transformation back to default occurred when Nathan Adams removed a cork from his body, releasing trapped gas.

His true form manifests as a blue feline with a distinctive white forehead scar, tail-less and typically hovering. A belt featuring a swirl-patterned buckle and a red cape complete his heroic aesthetic. Specific conditions trigger transformations: air overconsumption shifts him into the large, mushroom-covered Meganyan, while concentrated energy from multiple Yo-kai allies enables a transition to Darknyan. This latter form displays black fur, a dark blue cape, yellow eyes, and enhanced combat capabilities like wielding "Nyaight Claws."

His origin intertwines with Nathaniel Adams, Nathan’s grandfather, whom he met decades ago after Nathaniel discovered a connection-facilitating marble. This encounter forged a lifelong bond marked by Hovernyan’s unwavering loyalty and shared enthusiasm for superhero Moximous Mask—including performing the "Moxie pose" despite occasional embarrassment. When Nathaniel vanished confronting antagonistic forces, Hovernyan waited sixty years before recruiting Nathan to rectify the timeline.

Personality-wise, he embodies heroism, readily aiding others and theatrically announcing techniques like "Gusty Forward Pawnch" in combat. While patient, he may become distracted during prolonged tasks. The Meganyan form causes significant embarrassment due to its comical lack of control. He takes pride in his forehead scar as a reminder of fallibility, contrasting his floating ability with a grounded disposition.

Abilities include flight, enhanced strength, and proficiency in energy-based melee combat. Meganyan form grants powers like inducing object growth and discharging electricity. Darknyan emphasizes speed and precision for slicing attacks. He utilizes the Rewind Stone for temporal travel and strategically collaborates with allies like Jibanyan and Whisper during critical missions.

Beyond the initial film, he reappeared in subsequent cinematic installments, investigating Yo-kai World disruptions linked to figures like Lord Enma and confronting entities such as Zazel alongside allies including Usapyon and Buchinyan. A holiday-themed episode saw him accidentally swallow presents in his sleep, reverting to Meganyan until Nathan intervened. He later participated in resolving conflicts involving powered-up versions of other characters.

Relationships extend beyond Nathaniel to Nathan, whom he deeply trusts while playfully dubbing him "Bold Basher" in reference to Moximous Mask lore. He cooperates with Jibanyan and Whisper, sharing their view that the Moxie pose feels awkward. His role often involves coordinating multidimensional threat defenses, leveraging Darknyan transformations during pivotal battles.

Cameo appearances occurred in episodic content, such as an incident where a typographical error summoned multiple feline Yo-kai including him, and another involving anomalous energy emission investigations. These instances reaffirmed his sporadic presence outside feature-length narratives.
