Joshua Seth is an American voice actor, comedian, mentalist, and motivational speaker, widely recognized for his extensive work in English dubs of anime series and films during the 1990s and 2000s. He was born on December 2, 1970, in Kent, Ohio, and is a graduate of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Seth began his voice acting career in the early 1990s and became a prominent figure in the industry, particularly for his roles in animated series broadcast on networks like Kids' WB!, where he also served as an announcer for the Aftertoons Show and Saturdays: Unleashed programming blocks.
Seth is perhaps best known for his long-standing portrayal of Taichi "Tai" Kamiya, the leader of the DigiDestined, in the Digimon franchise. He first voiced the character in the original Digimon Adventure series and its sequel, Digimon Adventure 02, as well as in the compilation film Digimon: The Movie. After stepping away from voice acting in 2006, Seth made a notable return to the role for the Digimon Adventure tri. film series, recorded between 2016 and 2018, and subsequently for the film Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. This recurring association with the character stands as a central achievement in his career.
His voice acting portfolio includes a wide array of leading and supporting roles in other prominent anime series. He voiced the protagonist Joe Shimamura, Cyborg 009, in Cyborg 009: The Cyborg Soldier. In the series Tokyo Pig, he was the voice of the main character, Spencer Weinberg-Takahama. In 2006, Seth retired from full-time voice acting to pursue a career as a touring mentalist and magician. In this new chapter, he achieved considerable success, winning awards from Hollywood's Magic Castle, starring in his own television specials in Japan and South Korea, and performing thousands of shows across more than 30 countries. He has since transitioned into work as a motivational speaker and author. Despite his retirement from the field, he has periodically returned to voice acting for the Digimon franchise, as well as for other roles such as Kaneda in The Prince of Tennis in 2022, demonstrating his enduring connection to the anime community.
