Laura Latini
Description
Laura Latini was an Italian voice actress, born in Rome on November 3, 1969, who built an extensive career in dubbing before her death on August 19, 2012. She was born into a family of voice actors, being the daughter of Franco Latini and Maria Pinto, and the sister of Ilaria Latini and Fabrizio Vidale. Latini was particularly active in providing the Italian voices for characters in a wide array of animated series and films, both from Japan and the West.
Her work in anime was prolific and included several notable roles. She is known for voicing the female version of the protagonist Ranma Saotome in the latter part of the Ranma ½ television series, its related OAVs, and the movie Team Ranma vs. The Legendary Phoenix. Another significant role was Aya Misaki in the series Dear Brother. She also voiced the character Pisuke in multiple Dr. Slump films, including Dr. Slump & Arale-chan: Hoyoyo! The City of Dreams, Mechapolis and Dr. Slump: Hoyoyo! Space Adventure. Her film work extended to the role of Bon Bon in Little Nemo - Adventures in Slumberland and Hideoto Suzuri in the Battle Spirits: Shōnen Gekiha Dan television series.
Beyond these specific credits, Latini's anime filmography was diverse. She voiced Washu in the Tenchi Muyo! franchise, Blue in Wolf's Rain, Haruko Haruhara in FLCL, and characters in series such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Boogiepop Phantom, and Sonic X. In addition to her anime work, Latini was a highly sought-after voice for Western animation and live-action dubbing. She was the first Italian voice of Gwen in Total Drama, Dijonay Jones in The Proud Family, and provided voices for characters in The Simpsons. In live-action, she was best known as the long-time Italian voice of Karen Walker in Will & Grace and Lexie Grey in Grey's Anatomy, among many others.
Throughout her career, Latini received recognition for her talent, winning the Premio Voci nell'ombra award twice: in 2001 for her dubbing of Katherine Heigl in Roswell, and again in 2004 for her work as Megan Mullally in Will & Grace. Her contributions left a significant mark on the Italian dubbing industry until her career was cut short by her passing in 2012.
