Description
Dog Hummer is a distinctive member of the secret society Libra, known for his striking appearance and gentle demeanor. He appears as a slim, dark-skinned man in his early twenties with handsome, model-like features. His typical attire consists of a long-sleeved white shirt worn with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows, paired with blue skinny jeans and white and light purple shoes.
The circumstances of his existence are extraordinary and not of his own doing. He was the victim of Aligura, the "Paranoia King" and a powerful criminal. Aligura found her then-boyfriend, the ruthless serial killer Deldro Brody, to have a desirable personality but lacking in physical appearance. She set her sights on Dog Hummer for his looks. To create her ideal partner, she performed a horrific procedure: she crushed Deldro into a liquid state and then completely replaced all the blood in Dog Hummer's body with this liquefied form of the killer. The result is a single body that houses two beings: Dog Hummer and Deldro Brody, who now exists as his blood.
Personality-wise, Dog Hummer is the picture of cheerful optimism and politeness. He has an innocent, almost naively carefree attitude, to the point where his boundless positivity surprises others. He is remarkably forgiving and lacks self-pity. Even though he is an innocent man forced to share his body with a killer, he rarely dwells on his misfortune. He remains cheerful because his primary motivation seems to be the happiness of those around him. This extends to Deldro; he listens to and respects the former killer's opinions and concerns. Deldro Brody, in stark contrast, is pessimistic, crude, and was once cold-blooded. Because Deldro is a convicted criminal, Dog Hummer is also confined with him. Despite having no criminal record himself, Dog resides as a model prisoner in the Asylum, the maximum-security prison for超异常 criminals in Hellsalem's Lot. His primary role in the story, therefore, is as a secret weapon. Libra has the authority to temporarily release him from the Asylum to assist in dire situations where his immense power is required. He is a cooperative and reliable ally, always willing to help his friends in Libra.
His key relationships are defined by his unique condition. His most important relationship is, by necessity, with Deldro Brody. The two are a symbiotic pair, sharing a body and fighting as one. Dog has a close working relationship with the leader of Libra, Klaus Von Reinherz, who personally visits and retrieves him when needed.
