Description
Mikado Sanzen'in is a supporting character in the 2025 anime adaptation of Ranma ½. He is a sixteen-year-old student and the male half of the figure skating duo known as the Golden Pair, which he forms with his partner Azusa Shiratori. He attends a rival school, often identified as St. Kolhotz Gakuen or similar.

Mikado is exceptionally handsome, with refined features and a striking appearance that easily attracts attention. His personality is cool, calm, and collected, contrasting with Azusa's more ditzy and energetic nature. He is highly intelligent and strategic, but also self-centered and lecherous. He has a reputation as a playboy, having kissed over a thousand women, and he often uses underhanded tactics to steal girls' hearts, including breaking up established couples. His signature maneuver is to kiss his female opponents during martial arts figure skating matches, which he uses both as a psychological weapon and as a means of conquest.

Mikado's primary motivation is to win and to satisfy his romantic and competitive desires. He and Azusa seek to challenge and humiliate other skating pairs, particularly Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo. He becomes a direct rival to Ranma after landing a kiss on the female form of Ranma during a match, making him Ranma's first kiss. This incident triggers a heated conflict between them. Mikado is also briefly interested in kissing Akane, which further fuels the rivalry.

His role in the story is that of an antagonist in the ice-skating arc, bringing comedic and dramatic chaos through his flamboyant yet underhanded style. His relationship with Azusa is cooperative but somewhat one-sided, as he is the brains of the pair and she is more impulsive. There is no significant character development in the available material; he remains a mischievous and charming rival throughout his appearance.

Mikado's notable ability is his mastery of Martial Arts Figure Skating, which he combines with his tactical mind and physical grace. He possesses a special skating technique that, according to reports, no one has successfully escaped from, though a skilled martial artist like Ranma can fight back. He is also capable of calm reasoning under pressure, making him a formidable opponent despite his primarily comedic role.
