Description
Mahiro Atori is an eighteen-year-old upperclassman and one of the five guardians sworn to protect Tamaki Kasuga, the Tamayori Princess. He is a descendant of a crow lineage, which grants him specific supernatural abilities.
In terms of background, Mahiro stands at 157 cm tall, a physical trait that fuels a significant and persistent self-consciousness about his appearance. Because of his stature, he is frequently mistaken for an elementary school student, a misperception that he finds deeply irritating. He has purple hair and teal eyes which are noted to flash gold when his powers awaken.
Mahiro's personality is characterized by a loud, energetic, and often immature demeanor. He has a quick temper and is not shy about voicing his opinions, frequently directing his anger at fellow guardian Takuma Onizaki, especially when upset by something Tamaki says. He rigidly avoids physical confrontation with females. Despite this brash and boisterous exterior, he possesses the capacity to show a more serious and deep side, particularly when a crisis arises. He has a passionate fondness for motorcycles and fried noodle rolls.
Mahiro's role in the story is that of a protector. His position as a guardian is tied to a heritage of sacrifice, as his family line was historically expected to offer themselves to maintain a mystical seal. This backstory creates initial tension, as he resents being viewed as expendable. However, witnessing Tamaki's genuine care for the safety of her guardians helps foster a sense of mutual loyalty. He develops protective feelings toward Tamaki, and experiences visible sorrow upon recognizing that her deepest bond is with Takuma, ultimately accepting him as her destined partner. Betrayals by other guardians wound him deeply.
Mahiro's notable abilities stem from his crow lineage, granting him the power to control and manipulate the wind. In battle, he can shape wind into blade-like formations and use it to execute agile high jumps. His signature technique is named Gittora, which allows him to generate powerful cyclones or tornadoes capable of devastating multiple enemies at once.
