Description
Jessica Kaios is a prominent character introduced as one of the new protagonists in Danbōru Senki W. She is a 15-year-old LBX player who makes her first appearance challenging the protagonist, Ban Yamano, to a battle to test his skills.
Jessica is the daughter of Owen Kaios, the president of the NICS organization, and she herself becomes affiliated with NICS as an LBX player. She has a confident and self-assured personality, which strongly influences her approach to battling. Her confidence can sometimes border on being overly proud of her abilities, leading her to initially believe she may not need guidance or coaching from others. Despite this occasional arrogance, she is a valuable ally known for being highly observant. Her most notable trait is her possession of both a photographic and auditory memory, allowing her to perfectly recall any information, such as a map or important data, after seeing or hearing it just once.
Jessica’s primary motivation stems from her role in the fight against the Detectors, a antagonistic force in the series. She initially approaches Ban and his friends to determine if they are capable enough to join this fight. Her position as the NICS president’s daughter gives her a personal stake in the conflict, and she becomes a key ally and a significant asset to the team due to her memory skills and battle prowess.
In the story, after a series of events where she and her allies confront rogue LBX and enslaved players, Jessica is entered into a tournament by the character Otacross. For this tournament, the legendary LBX player Jin Kaidou is assigned to be her coach. Initially, Jessica resists this, feeling her own skills are sufficient. However, during a match, Jin provides her with a large hammer-like weapon for her LBX. Though she struggles with it at first, she ultimately prevails and comes to realize that Jin’s guidance is not a critique of her ability but a means to learn new skills for future battles. After this realization, she begins to respect him and formally calls him her coach. Her key relationships are with her father, Owen Kaios, and her teammates, including Ban Yamano and Hiro Oozora, as well as Jin, who becomes a mentor figure.
